    Wrapping Wreckas

    By zulu.tango

Hit the throttle on the Wreckas last week. I've been painting pretty slowly this year all things considered, decided to change that with this project. Finished up free-hand on a few items, got the squigs painted up, did the bases and oil washes last week resulting in a final project I'm pretty happy with!    I dug out some of the leftover terrain bits I had from the sector imperialis/Chalnath terrain. I put a fine terrain paste around those bits and then put in some sand to act as larg

    Jagieŀŀo inspects their prizes

    By GSCUprising

The Resistance have finally captured the war machines they believe they require to make their stand.   Brutus, the Malcador, reliable, dependable the spine of their battleline. She will not fail them. She will hold the line, her battlecannon roaring, her sponsons blazing as she paves the way for the Resistance's advance. The Iron Duke, his twin Earthshaker cannons blasting holes in the enemy's fortifications. He guards those retreating and the wounded behind his massive blast shield

    XIVth Legion build

    By W.A.Rorie

So am I back from Indiana. I have to head back to move In-Laws into a Retirement Center, in a few weeks. And of course everything goes sideways at work moment I get back. So hobby time has been non existence. Silver Lining is LGS not get Saturnine until Monday, so I can get everything I need to do first i.e. my XIXth Legion and Exorcists  Call to Arms Vows, that I have not started. And won't have time this weekend.   I did start on building one of My XIVth Legion Commanders, not sure w

    Square Pants Bob

    By Bouargh

Hi Folks,   Today’s blog entry is a little bit specific as it deals with something different from my usual inputs: instead of reporting hobbying progress, I will talk about a trail I did for a new technique (à la TITH – i.e. something that is not new in general but new for me).     The technique is often reported on purpose of adding details and create battle damages or war-torn marks on miniatures. But beyond painting damages, the sponge might be used on purpose of

The Blackpelts - A Wolf Scouts Kill Team

With the dust settling on the holidays I finally had time to complete a project I've been working on for the last couple of months, and with that completion comes my first blog post in...a long time. Space Wolves have always been one of my favorite chapters, and when the wolf-scouts came out I was excited to paint up more sons of Russ. I wanted the "lore" behind this pack to be that they were Primaris marines that had drunk from the Cup of Wulfen and had begun to exhibit signs of the curse. T

Chapter Master, and a Kill Team

I have done a bit of minor kit bashing on Calgar to make my Chapter Master Glenn Mi'Kell (Kudos to anybody that gets that Scottish childhood reference!)   I don't like doing bare heads much, but as he's the Chapter Master, he needs an impressive beard!       Because he's a bit special I'll be using the Green Stuff World chameleon Cobalt Blue paint on his armour. Should hopefully look good!    Also, because I'm starting Kill Team at my games clu

Why didn't I think of this before?

Obviously it has been far too long since I first started this blog, and even longer since I first had this idea. I think I have finally decided on the forces for the chess set.   While modern chess sets often feature white versus black, fancier chess sets often feature sides of different colors, including browns and reds. This typically depended upon the materials being used for the pieces. For my part, I've long planned on a red versus black arrangement. My two dilemmas revolved aroun

Tiny Marines make a come back

Hi Folks,   It has been time since I resumed painting of my Epic era Space Marines. Let's say that I am resuming my resumé. This time I set the gear shift up and when beyond just colour testing. I have gone for 2 Companies, one Battle and one Veteran, plus a supporting inquisitor and some DEvastators plus Speeders. This is a good first bunch for 2026 12 MoH.   The battle company has been set with the red paultrons. I have tried to stick to the Adeptus Astartes codex mark

Loxodon Guard Part 1: In the Beginning...

Have you ever pick up a project based whim? or maybe you were given some models from a loved one and continued on with it?    My Space Marine project started when I won a raffle at my FLGS. my prize was a plastic bag that had a few random sprues in it. I remember there was some Mk3 Horus Hersey Marines, a Beastmen Shaman, a Imperial Guard Commissar (the older one with the plasma pistol & sabre) and 5 Intercessors. I didn't think much of my prize at the time. Until the pandemic hit

New Year, New Project

Well, 2025 is now in the rear-view mirror, and as expected my hobby time has been rather limited with a newborn and moving house. I’ve finally managed to get the hobby desk set up temporarily for the time being and am eager to get cracking with some painting, but the big question is: on what? As is pretty much standard for me, the Ultramarines project I started last year has fizzled out. I just can’t seem to find the motivation to carry on with it. Something that has become more and more ap

Conversion Tutorial: Ghetto Stranglewebs for Termagants

Did you buy a load of Leviathan Termagants and are missing out on the strangleweb frame that came out later? Or are you unwilling to drop a load more cash to get some one per unit weapons? I have your solution (as long as you can scrounge a few spare devourers)! With a sharp knife, a bunch of plastic glue and a little dry fitting, you too can have a funnel-web shooter for your numberless hordes!        STEP 1 Get yourself a termagant and make 2 cuts like this - one basic

Plans for 2026

So I am sitting at work making my plans for 40k 2026. I guess it is resolutions...   Horus Hersey....I'm done building and painting. Done as in burned out. I will finish the league games but I need a break for HH.   Grey Knights- 12 MoH 2026 True Scale Project and Gaming Group Crusade Army.    Adepta Sororitas/ Ecclesiarchy- I need to paint at least a Squad or 2 this year   Exorcists- Always a side project, work on them when I need

2025 in Review - and what's ahead in 2026

I gave this army a lot of focus in 2025, adding units to take it to 2,000 points, and beyond  Not counting Heavy Intercessors and a Gravis Captain (which I started painting in 2024), here's everything I painted for the Ashen Sentinels this past year - six squads (Desolation Squads, Assault Intercessors with Jump Packs, and more Intercessors), three characters and a Redemptor Dreadnought:   The past year wasn't just a good one for this army hobby wise, the narrative campaign I ran

Stress of life, holidays, and end of year shenanigans...Bring on the 2026 MoH

Ugh the Holidays.....Stress of money, Kids on Christmas break, Family visits, Work, Holidays Party, Cleaning the house, repairs, etc. The past few weeks Life has taken over and the hobby time has been non existent even when it comes to other hobbies not involving gaming as well. Every time I tried to take time to myself, I was unable too or it was delayed, to a point where I could not do it because of other things. Then having to go to work 2 hours earlier and staying later, then while at home s

Suffer Not the Alien - The Deathwatch Kill Team

Hello Frater, its been a while! After finishing the Syther Squad I worked on a few non-GW related projects for a game set in a galaxy far far away. Between those going a bit longer than anticipated and the Holiday season arriving I haven't had a ton of time or energy for a post. That isn't to say I haven't been productive though, in a rarity for me this will be a one-and-done post as I completed the deathwatch kill team from the Tombworld box a little while ago.   The kit is pretty awe

Unoffical Fan Made Data Cards- Part 1

So as my group begins to ramp up for our Campaign/ Crusade, I am looking at ways to make it more unique and add Characters.    1st up is my take on a Lieutenant in Terminator Armor       Model would be 80 points.    In the WarComm article Nick adds New Ultramarines to his vast collection we see he has 2 Lieutenants and an Apothecary Biologis. Dark Angels Deathwing had Apothecaries and Grey Knights have Apothecary options so that will be the nex

Oops, I didn't again....

Well I have been painting again and it was time to pick up more paint....     I already was suing this on my Horus Heresy Raven Guard and as I have been working on my 40k Imperial Fists, I figured why not.     I picked this up at a LGS for a good price and out of the colors included in the box I had 2 already, Matt Black and Gemstone Red. Need to pick up the remaining colors for White Triad and some of the other triads but this was a great pick up for th

The War in Khymara Sector by Metal Head Armory

Khymara Prime     My Gaming Group, Metal Head Armory, has been fighting over the Khymara Sector for years. Even our (Non LGS League) games in Horus Heresy take place in the Sector. Khymara Prime was formally known as Praxia. Praxia was a resupply point and Rapid strike forces for the Imperium before the Horus Heresy. Praxia was defending by large Company of Iron Warriors, Terran Born Raven Guard exiled by Corvus Corax, White Scars, World Eaters, and Word Bearers. A small Contingen

The birth of a vocation. Or maybe not.

Hi folks,   An unsual topic today. What about initiating your kids to the hobby? I must confess it is not necessarily a purpose I had in mind until recently. My daughter, an 8 y.o. little tyrant, decided we had to play together with my toys.   (not her)   Her first move was subtle: she decided we had to take opportunity of my colonization of the picnic table to share space and have painting workshops together. This idea could have had the lifespan of a sparkle,

DISCLAIMER: If you though I had any political intent, you have been lured into my Blog ( and the title works as intended ). And now that you arrived here, well, feel free reading to the end; after all you have already made the difficult part…   Hi folks,   This is an ode to my (almost new) Dremel 3000.     I have been the happy and satisfied owner of a bargain Chinese rotary tool that served me well for two decades. And one day the reduction gear broke. I
