AdMech Patrol #2 - Progress report

    By Bouargh

Blog entries pass and sometimes look like very similar to some previous ones. It is one of the issues when dealing with army building on base of multiples buy outs of the same Patrol Box...   Yet we might eventually expect some variation if the models are fitted in different fashion, ain´t we?   The Onagre DuneCrawler as already been spoiled in the FOrums, but it has been the major progress of the past week so I will "proudly" republish it there. It is also an unhonorable  wa

    Dakota Minor Defence Corps (PDF)

    By Mike Zulu

Introduction Like many established Imperium worlds, Dakota Minor has a planetary defence force simply known the Dakota Minor Defence Corps (or DMDC). Most of its number are conscripted from the local population; a small number of citizens willingly join to escape the tedium of farm life that is prevalent on Dakota Minor. The DMDC is organised in a manner similar to Astra Militarum regiments, albeit more limited in their makeup. For the most part, it consists of dozens of infantry battalions

Wrapping up 2024 and looking forward.

It's been a while since I did a blog post, in fact I haven't posted since completing my Call to arms vow back in the summer. I'd like to say I had a great excuse for not posting, but it was mainly just being distracted by other things such as playing Space  Marine II. I have still managed to carry on building and painting a fair few models in this time and having a free time over the Christmas holidays I've gotten quite a bit more finished.    2024 Completed:     Fo

2025 is upon us, Happy New Year.

I hope everyone is having a safe and Happy New Year!   Time for the annual, "What do I have planned for the hobby,"  as I previous posted (here), one of the big plans was to return to @Grotsmasha's  12 Months of Hobby XXXX (2025 here).  As promised I have my January 2025 vow submitted.  I have a bunch of Kill Teams to build and paint and well a lot of armies.     Kill Teams   Angels of Death- Deathwatch and Exorcists are currently WIP Phobos Strike

Back in to the Trenches!

Well Happy New Years all and well the first post of the New Year will be #125.    Well as I proceed down the path of the Long Vigil, I keep thinking of the basing scheme I want to do for my  Deathwatch.  I could continue with my base schemes:   Urbans: Shown on my Grey Knights    On My Skitarii Marshall (WIP)   Exorcists Scout Squad Shu'kar   54th Psian Jakals   My Horus Heresy Ravenguard    Temple

2024 - Year in Review - Sin Eaters

2024 - YEAR IN REVIEW THE SIN EATERS   My first major project on returning to the hobby - well, the first once I liked enough to stick with properly - finally hit that all-important 2,000 point mark earlier this year. It's currently 2,070, meaning I can swap out a character as required, as I did this last weekend in a final spurt of tabletop play for the year. I'll go into the individual units in a moment, but just at a top-level, I'm very happy with these chaps. The Crusade, thou

Teaching Kids 40k

Well after a furious build session this weekend, I was able to build the my son's Hand of Khaine Kill Team consisting of 10 Striking Scorpions and 5 Dire Avengers, and need to get him 5 Howling Banshees.     to go against his brother's Death Guard     and his other brothers's Hierotek Circle which I need to get him a box of Immortals/ Deathmark (2 Gauss Blaster, 1 Tesla Carbine, and 2 Deathmarks) plus other 2 Characters; Chronomancer and Psychomancer.

An introduction (of sorts)

I'm not nearly as active either in the hobby or here on the Bolter and Chainsword as I would like to be, or even as much as I used to be. Such is life. However, I have plans to increase my hobby activity. We'll see if Fate wills those plans to be...   If you're wondering about the image I chose for this blog post, those are the minis that got me into the game - the Space Elves. They became the Eldar, and are now the Aeldari. While I love the craftworlders, I have always loved the merce

My Crusade so far.

Emperors Champion is in the mail, Primaris eliminators are in the mail, I have a Black Templars combat patrol, and a Sword Brethren squad, I'll post pics soon of them all once they are all built and painted.

The Crusade (and Narrative) Continues...

The 40k Campaign I'm running is now at its half way point, and the first part is concluded. This part of the campaign was focused on the Orbital Array that is a lynch pin of the Forge World where the campaign is set.    My Marines haven't done great to be honest - winning only one out of seven games  - but there's been some exciting narrative developments along the way, such as Necrons opening a wormhole to siphon Tyranids from the Octarius Sector directly on to the Array!

Did that just happen............

Ok this was not planned... I swear.    So I have been focused on my switching my paints to Army Painter Warpaints Fanatic series and Friday after work I went to 2 of my LGS. First Store I did not get paint but walked out with Watch Captain Artemis and a box of Deathwatch Veterans. Then I went to next store to pick up my online order for paints and picked up more paints. Friday night, I built the sub assemblies for the veterans and converted Artemis due to the cable was short and slappe

2024 - Year in Review - Summary

2024 - YEAR IN REVIEW SUMMARY - ALL FINISHED MODELS Oh, hi Goose!   I’ve had a pretty good year for painting, and a decent one for actually playing some 40k! The Sin Eaters hit 2,000 points and finished up their Crusade, I started – and eventually completed about 1,500 points worth of – Tau, largely thanks to the Call to Arms, painted up a large BFG fleet, and started work on a second Xenos Army with my Eldar bikes.    That is, for me, a LOT of models. 151, at

Am I really switching to Army Painter Warpaints Fanatic?

Since buying the following army painter bundles on Black Friday at mt LGS   Fantatic mega set    Fantatic Metallics    I purchased a few more sets online   Fanatic Washes   Fanatic Most Wanted   then while dealing with a slight depression due to a family issue and at LGS  I purchased these   Wargames Mega Brush Set    IMHO I think the fanatic line is great.  Dropper bottle, shaker bottle

Imperial Reivers Captain arrives for battle

After testing out various schemes to get the colour I want, and proposing all my cloth/cloaks etc to be Tartan, here is my Terminator Captain incorporating all the elements I have been toying with.   The Armour recipe I'm going with: Base of Naggaroth Night (or Leviathan purple contrast) Layer up with Asurmen Blue then Teclis Blue. Highlights with Teclis Blue and Moot green   The Tartan is based on the Kilt I have which I can't remember the name of... Something

Curse you, Black Friday, Curse you!

So my FLGS had a huge Black Friday Sale online and in store too. Well I picked up the Martian Civil War HH Campaign book, some Citadel Spray cans from the online sale. Then on Friday I went in store to pick up some more items like Ad Mech Onager Dunecrawler, some glue and accelerant, and some Army Painter paints which is the point of today's blog.      So as I slowly have been working on my Forgeworld Deimos Ad Mech forces, I have been using Army Painter Warpaints Fanatic pa

War of the False Primarch / #HiddenArmies WIP 1/5

The Black Riders (Marcachi Dubh) are a small, roving fleet of Eldar Anhrathe, under charter to [REDACTED] as of this writing. Their force balance tends to skew towards more strategically mobile, less logistically-bound assets — either swift-moving jetbike-mounted raiders, speeders, or pedites. Their colors are as riotous and non-uniform as expected of Corsairs, yet a distinct preference for darker tones has been noted fleet-wide.    Overall, the temperament of the Marcachi Dubh could be d

Craftworld Ythiril - Windriders

YTHIRIL WILD HUNTER HOST WINDRIDER Riding out in close formation.   I've finished the first squad, and had a delightful time. I really liked this kit, even if I ran into some... Problems with my magnetisation. The weapon hole is an awkward size for the magnets I have left over from basing all my Tau, and even more awkwardly my drill bit doesn't fit my hand drill, so I had to do it manually. As such, the guns aren't quite level, with one of them unfortunately droopy. Oh w

Craftworld Ythiril - Windrider & Lore Thoughts

YTHIRIL WILD HUNTER HOST WINDRIDER Windrider Jetbike with Shuriken Cannon.   The core of the Wild Hunt, warrior-bond teams of Windriders scour the battlefield of the enemies of Ythiril, and its charge to guard the Cold Iron Stars. The Craftworld, militaristic and dedicated, blurs the lines between citizen soldiers and the Holy Aspects, especially amongst the main body of the Host, mounted on Jetbikes that will, in time, be coaxed into becoming steeds for their riders thr

Niall, post-Gharus

+++My graith [wargear/accoutrement?] was taken from me on Gharus. Have had to make do with human materials when wraithbone quantities acquired from the Marcachi Dubh will not suffice. In honor of Sgt. MacNamarra of the Praetorians, I have mated her bayonet to my bladeless haft. May it serve us both well in vengeance.+++

"On Gharus XI, we are all brothers" - Niall's models pt. 2 (WIP)

A world beyond the bounds of Mavor, but sickeningly close to it. Gharus XI is, in essence, Chaos’ version of an Imperial Prison World — where millions work menially, suffer, and are held captive until the moment of their deaths, and sometimes beyond. Its vast furnace-pits burn night and day, while screams of the tortured rise with their towering flames to its steel-gray sky. The products of this fell industry go on to feed the war machine of many warbands and cults in the Eastern Fringe, with th

Delai Death-Dancer, Altansar's Prodigal (WIP)

Altansar has sacrificed much. Its good name, as the Mon-Keigh would put it, for one. Blame Ulthwé and their monomania for that.    One other sacrifice is Delai Deathdancer. They were much like me. A former Aspect Warrior, who could never quite get stuck into either of the twin paths for advancement as such. They left Altansar, for to be not a Warrior there is anathema. It is wrong that they died at Tarn's hands. It is wrong that their spirit-stone was crushed. They were young, and h
