Greetings! I’ve just returned to the hobby after a number of years away. Have started building a Black Templars force. I’ve got the stuff from the Leviathon Box set and a few extra Black Templars units. Would like to create a fluffy army themed around a crusade into the great rift (as pictured) - lots of Templars and fanatical pilgrims and sisters of battle etc watched over by Ordo Hereticus- is that even possible anymore?

Afternoon all. I've been quite happy and intrigued by the possibilities of the Agents Codex. It's by no means perfect but I do feel there is potential for fun and it opens up a whole new toolbox for Imperial armies. I've been looking at putting together an all agents list as I can fill out alot of it using things I already own. My own reading confirms the internets consensus that the Imperialis Fleet detachment has the most competitive potential. But it's the Ordo Hereticus Detachment that calls to me, and it's Sister and Arbites units I'd like to purchase. This is my first go at an all rounder force. Purgation Force Detachment Strike Force 2000pts Epic Heroes Inquisitor Greyfax - Warlord Eversor Assassin Vindicare Assassin Characters Inquisitor - Psychic Gifts - Psychic Shockwave - Force Weapon - No Escape Ministorum Priest - Power weapon and Holy Pistol - Liber Heresius Battleline Units Vigilant Squad - Executioner Shotgun - Arbites Grenade Launcher - Nuncio-Aquila Vigilant Squad - Executioner Shotgun - Arbites Grenade Launcher - Nuncio-Aquila Other Units Inquisitorial Agents - 10 Inquisitorial Agents, 2 Gun Servitors - 2x Tome Skulls - 2x Plasma Pistols - 2x Eviscerators - 2x Mystic Staves - Gun Servitors: 2x Multi-Meltas Subductor Squad - Nuncio-Aquila Grey Knights Terminator Squad - 1x Psycannon - 1x Ancient’s Banner - 1x Narthecium Grey Knights Terminator Squad - 1x Psycannon - 1x Ancient’s Banner - 1x Narthecium Sisters of Battle Squad - Simulacrum Imperialis - Meltagun - Multi-Melta - Sister Superior: Power Weapon and Combi-Weapon Sisters of Battle Squad - Simulacrum Imperialis - Meltagun - Multi-Melta - Sister Superior: Power Weapon and Combi-Weapon Dedicated Transports Imperial Rhino - Hunter-Killer Missile Inquisitorial Chimera - Chimera Heavy Bolter - Heavy Bolter - Storm Bolter - Hunter-Killer Missile Sisters of Battle Immolator - Twin Multi-Melta - Hunter-Killer Missile Sisters of Battle Immolator - Twin Multi-Melta - Hunter-Killer Missile Imperial Knights: Freeblades Armiger Warglaive - Meltagun Armiger Warglaive - Meltagun Armiger's are in this list for some anti-vehicle/monster backbone. Greyfax joins the Inquisitorial Agents in the Chimera, the Priest goes with the Subductors in the Rhino and the Inquisitor is joining a Grey Knight Squad and both will deepstrike. Both Sister Squads will split to have the Superior and gunners in the Immolators and the others will run around the backfield doing actions and such. I went for the two most expensive Assassins so that I can freely swap around depending on the match up. Key I think to playing this is to try and control the flow of battle and make sure engagements are on my army's terms. Easier said than done but with redeployment shenanigans from the Liber Heresius, Deepstriking Grey Knights and tricks to eliminate key enemies when needed I think I might have a chance in casual to semi-competitive settings and look good doing it.

Greetings, brothers. I intend two threads to cover the 3rd edition campaign I am doing with my two sons -- this thread, to cover the hobby/WIP/painting aspect, and then I will do a separate thread for battle reports and related "fluff" (i.e. storyline for the batreps). Battle reports most likely won't begin until at least the summer as we have to build up our forces. I expect my oldest son to create an account here at B&C soon so that he can contribute as well. The forces that will be involved in the campaign are: Inquisition (Codex: Witch Hunters, 2003) - run my myself Dark Blades - DA successor chapter (Codex: Dark Angels, 1999 and Codex: Spacemarines 1998) - oldest son, "Primus" (16 yrs old) Deathskulls Orks (Codex: Orks, 1999) - youngest son, "Secundus" (12 yrs old) "The Fallen" (Chaos marine rules from the main rule book) - NPC faction to be used according to special mission house rule, communally painted Chaos cultists ("Adversaries of the Witch Hunter" list from Codex: Witch Hunters) - NPC faction, communally painted Phœladar PDF (Codex: Imperial Guard, 1999) - run by Secundus, but using my DKoK models When we're ready to start posting battle reports, I will share with you the storyline that we have come up with for this campaign. Today, I will begin sharing some of the initial WIP and completions. The Witch Hunter force is led by none other than Lord Inquisitor Soulis, well-known from my blog about his force. I've started the base colours for his Throne of Redemption: While I'm working on this centrepiece for my army, Secundus is preparing a looted Leman Russ Battle Tank using the bottom half of a Russ I found in my bitz box (don's ask why we only had the lower half because I don't know) and various bitz and plasticard: Primus is starting off with a squad of sniper scouts, and a squad of bolter/shotgun/BP&CCW scouts for the Dark Blades: And finally, some cultists/traitors that were recently completed (Secundus did the base coat and wash, I did quick highlights to finish them up): There won't be a full Fallen force, just a few cultists and marines running around in certain missions/maps.

The RPG Nook presents... ++ A DARK HERESY RPG ++ ++ THE DAMOCLES CONTINGENCY ++ "It is in the worst of times, that the true qualities of men shine through. Their light is the Emperor's Will, their strength the Emperor's Hand. Yet what kind of men can suffer in such darkness, what qualities will work in the shade, where the dagger in the dark is worth a thousand swords at dawn?" -Inquisitor Garrad Locke +++++++ PROLOGUE +++++++ The World of Damocles, Hive Primus Night Cycle, 3rd Segment, 787.999.M41: He heard it first, and looked up from his microbial containment field. Focus lenses moved from his eyes in a mechanical whirr, as he felt the dark presence pressing in under the door. Slowly, ever so slowly, he reached for the Carnifex-bore stub automatic, loaded with the expensive shells, his palms sweaty. He noticed his skin was pale, the hairs standing on end. He gripped the pistol butt hard, the cold metal felt good, reassuring. Auto-response. Respiratory and circulatory increase, fight or flight. The words came but his body was lumpen, heavy. It would not obey him fast enough! Then the door flung open, and the shadow hung there, robed, cloaked in darkness and the chill air of the corridor outside fomenting into mist as it hit his heat-conditioning throughout his laboratory. The germs liked the warmth, needed the heat to grow. He drew the pistol into both hands, adrenaline sting forcing him to ram the mammoth block of hardware at the figure. "Throne!" He felt his teeth chatter, not at the cold, but the fear in his trembling voice. "Stay back!" He fired, once, twice. The shells filled the lab with thunder, noise pummelling both him and the intended victim. It rushed on , gripping him with an iron, invisible fist, and he heard the bones crack, the weapon firing again as it caught against his now disfigured digits, but the round only served to go wide, spanking off a stasis cabinet, causing to crash onto the floor and vials of chemicals spilled out, singing the air with acrid tang. The figure gripped him, enveloped him and he screamed, loud and long, not understanding it was his last breath. An hour later, when his body was still and tight with rigor-mortis, his automatic alarm sent the signal he'd hoped to cancel, and his experiments autoclaved in melta heat. The ones that weren't missing. +++++++ Ordo Hereticus Intelligence Centre 280, Eastern Fringe, Night Watch, 787.999.M41: + Astropathic Terminus, Sigma6.455/Skapula/303-Enceladus(CARMINE) + Message Reads... + Alert Signal Aleph Primus/Notify/Sect-Com//OrdoSepultura/-RESHUNT//OP-ORD... + Notify//Verdict//. The crimson lights from his networked dataslate woke him up. Always a light sleeper, he sighed and rubbed his face as the commbead on the nightstand rattled and buzzed against the plastek of his holoterminal encoder. His real name was somewhere in the back of his mind, and as he got up and plugged back into the cogitator network, he picked up the message. Aleph Primus. He was on his feet in moments, and into his customary garb of mixed carapace, heavy robes and xenomesh. He settled the visor into place, then his hood and belted on his equipment, weapons. His clothes and pouches were worn, the dust of a hard life beaten into them. His gauntleted finger was on his commbead as he strode towards the operations room, the device fast in his left ear. +This is Verdict. Contact Voyager and have him ready in shuttle bay three. Then get me Viceroy. In that order.+ He killed the link before the automated response from the servitor-slave. He hated the metallic sound of it. They were already one-hundred and forty-four hours behind. Unforgiveable. +++++++ Chaeron, Second Moon of Damocles, Low Orbit, 797.999.M41 Verdict's visor displayed the incoming comms loop, the occulus-portrait was obscured of course, but he knew who it was as soo as he heard her sharp intake of breath. +Situation?+ +I'm here with Vendetta, we're preparing to drop.+ +Negative. The problem has...changed.+ She sounded exasperated. +Clarify.+ +A demand has been made - an outrageous one. You can't go in. You'll need to recruit someone...invisible. Send out your people, get dregs, killers, rogues, pay them or threaten them, but you're the handler.+ +What have I done to deserve that?+ +Other than I trust you?+ He sighed. Working for her was the best and worst thing he'd ever agreed to. He closed the link, knowing exactly who to call. He'd make the other arrangements as well. It was time to do what the Inquisition did best. +++++++ + ACT I + ROGUES IN THE HOUSE Chapter One: A Murder of Acolytes Chapter Two: The Crucible Chapter Three: Fiend or Foe Chapter Four: What A Deadly Web We Weave Chapter Five: Angels In Dirty Places + ACT II + THE CHAOS ENGINE Chapter One: What Evils Below Chapter Two: Alea Iacta Est
