    Square Pants Bob

    By Bouargh

Hi Folks,   Today’s blog entry is a little bit specific as it deals with something different from my usual inputs: instead of reporting hobbying progress, I will talk about a trail I did for a new technique (à la TITH – i.e. something that is not new in general but new for me).     The technique is often reported on purpose of adding details and create battle damages or war-torn marks on miniatures. But beyond painting damages, the sponge might be used on purpose of

    Jagieŀŀo inspects their prizes

    By GSCUprising

The Resistance have finally captured the war machines they believe they require to make their stand.   Brutus, the Malcador, reliable, dependable the spine of their battleline. She will not fail them. She will hold the line, her battlecannon roaring, her sponsons blazing as she paves the way for the Resistance's advance. Wrapping Wreckas

    By zulu.tango

Hit the throttle on the Wreckas last week. I've been painting pretty slowly this year all things considered, decided to change that with this project. Finished up free-hand on a few items, got the squigs painted up, did the bases and oil washes last week resulting in a final project I'm pretty happy with!    I dug out some of the leftover terrain bits I had from the sector imperialis/Chalnath terrain. I put a fine terrain paste around those bits and then put in some sand to act as larg

    XIVth Legion build

    By W.A.Rorie

So am I back from Indiana. I have to head back to move In-Laws into a Retirement Center, in a few weeks. And of course everything goes sideways at work moment I get back. So hobby time has been non existence. Silver Lining is LGS not get Saturnine until Monday, so I can get everything I need to do first i.e. my XIXth Legion and Exorcists  Call to Arms Vows, that I have not started. And won't have time this weekend.   I did start on building one of My XIVth Legion Commanders, not sure w

Weekend Horus Heresy Update

I did not get as much done as I wanted but I need to get my Raven Guard done for round 2 of my League game.      need to finish browns, metallics, bases, decal and weather.....in 4 days.    Continued building my Space Wolves Praetor as well.     almost to the point where I need to story doing gap filling and sculpting Wolf pelts.

Wójek, the Guardian

Hi all,   I wrote this small scene as an experiment. It features a man guarding the nursery in Nowa Avestia, the headquarters of the Resistance. Now, I will confess, it is a little self-indulgent as the name Wójek is what my Polish little goddaughter and nieces call me - it means "uncle". My heart melts a little when they call me that.   If I decide to include this in the story of Comes The Sandstorm, he'll only appear in this one scene, otherwise I think it'll become redunda

Horus Heresy Updates

I really have been focused on my HH Raven Guard. With the Saturnine Box I was planning on doing Deathguard with all the Mk II and Mk III's I had. The Saturnine stuff is sitting around as I have been getting Solar Auxila for an Armored Company, which was going to be Therion Velites (Legionnes Auxila for Raven Guard),     But I have decided to go with Tallarn Reborn, not parade ready, lots, of stowage and weathered.      As I go down this trail further, I am

League army update.

A WIP update working through my squads. I felt that the blue on the Bladeguard (previous blog entry) was a bit too "bright" on the blue, so I've changed up the recipe, and now I've gone with Naggaroth Night base, light colour as MacCragge Blue, and blended back with Vallejo Dark Prussian Blue (the darkest blue I had). So I'm happy with that, as I don't want the colour shift to be too prominent in that the army looks blue rather than the purple I want. Edge highlights are Teclis blue or Genesteal

Back at it!

It’s been a little while since my last update, but I’m back on track! Sadly, my enthusiasm for the 30k project fizzled out with the release of 3rd Edition Horus Heresy. I might circle back to it eventually, but for now, I’ve been taking a break from the hobby to focus on “real life.” As it turns out, I’m also in the process of moving house, which means I’ve been packing up my hobby stuff and let me tell you, I had no idea how many half-built Space Marine kits I had lying around. If you’ve seen m

"Disrupt the Enemy Lines!" Part 18

League game has been delayed.  My Opponent has to work OT the next few weeks, so we are postponing it to next week. So 11 days to get models done.      Assault Squad is getting closer to being done, bases, metallics on weapons, glow effects, highlights, touch ups, decals and weathering. Centurion is really close. base, decals, highlights, touch ups, decals and weathering.  Destroyer Assault squad needs the browns on their pouches and holsters, bases, metallics

Masters of Fire and Steel

When one considers the genetic lineage of the Marines Adamant, as well as their close bond with the Forges of Gharant, it is no surprise that the Iron Wyrds are the most prevalent and influential of the specialist ranks within the Chapter.   Each Household maintains its own personal Armoury of weapons, equipment and vehicles, as well as fleet assets, and it is therefore not uncommon to find as many as a dozen brethren serving their Clan as Iron Wyrds, with a substantial number of Skald

Black Riders Felarch

Felarch of the Marcachi Dubh, vulgarly known as The Black Riders. These piratical Eldar are unusually disciplined and militaristic for ones of their ilk, holding to a martial code of honor and fighting savagely. Led by the Prince Ra’Tar, they have menaced the Eastern Fringe and the galactic halo for a long span. On occasion, however, they have hired themselves out to unscrupulous Imperials as mercenaries or privateers.

History of Jackal Company: Part Two

With the planetary defence forces neutralised at the landing zone, the betrayal was complete. Jackal Company did not waste a second in turning the crisis to its advantage. Ignoring the scattered pockets of the starved populace still clinging to the exterior habitats, Warsmith Kord ordered the captured Guardsmen to the firing lines, forcing them to turn their guns on their former comrades who didn't know surrender, while the Iron Warriors consolidated the most vital fuel depots.   Kord

History of Jackal Company: Part 1

The toxic haze clinging to the landing zone of Vosa V began to fracture, yielding to the roar of a descending void craft. It was the Frigate Pillar of Olympia, a hulking mass of grey ceramite scored with the unmistakable yellow and black chevrons of the IV Legion. The vessel settled with an almost seismic impact. Its exhausted plasma conduits vented violently into the polluted air. For a silent, strained moment, the ship loomed, its bulk an oppressive presence, pressing the small assembly of Pla

The characters of Prawa V

Hi all,   Following a suggestion from @W.A.Rorie, I'm going to summarise the main characters in each of the two stories I have written. This came about because I've been posting passages out of chronological order and a mix of the two stories. I hope this helps clear things up. As my readers will know, I do enjoy my languages and will provide some context for their names. The meaning of the names isn't terribly important, but thought it might make a point of interest. I've spent time i

"Disrupt the Enemy Lines!" Part 17

Got more work done Friday than planned  but got no work done yesterday like I wanted too    Going to do this in reverse.... I was on Kid Duty Saturday as wife ran errands and upon returning home she was not feeling well. So I was watching the kids and in charge of dinner. So hobby time was zero. Which was fine since I have to work the next few Sundays and wont be home next Saturday as I have a busy day planned with some Friends/ Co Workers and My League Game. And the following Weekends

Legiones Auxilia- Therion Velites

Well I just ordered a 3rd Solar Auxilia Leman Russ So now I have 3. Guess I am doing a Mechanized Pattern Cohort for my Legiones Auxilia for Therion Velites.    So this will be the start of my 876th Therion Velites Cohort, 20th Armored Division, 9th Tank Battalion attached to the 707th Expeditionary Fleet.   Command [175 Point(s)] Armoured Command Section [175 Point(s)]: Hull Mounted (Front) heavy bolter, Dozer blade, Searchlight, Pintle Mounted heavy stubber   1

"Disrupt the Enemy Lines!" Part 15

My League game (Round 2) is scheduled for the 4th of October so we are 11 days out.  And I need to paint 11 models, which means a model a day.  But I also want to get a start on my next 500 pts for Round 3.    Last night,  I was able to base my assault squad and then prime them Matt Black (Army Painter)     Plan is to do 1st layer of  Greys (flex armor), reds, and whites tonight.  I would have started last night but I am waiting on a new wet pallet pad so I can add

"Disrupt the Enemy Lines!" Part 14

My wife and me are finally recovering from Nurgle's touch....I know we got it from the kids, who did not get sick. Stupid back to school illness.......   So Friday after work I sat down to work on my Athoria Month 2 models. I am adding Jump Centurion, another Assault squad and a Sicaran.  Part of my plan is also get Next Months additon started.    Sicaran is done and has been done since last year:   I was able to build the assault squad.

Veteran Sergeant Talaon Hereus

Lastly, we have the kill team's leader, Veteran Sergeant Talaon Hereus of the Khalkotauroi Chapter.           Yes, I see the mould lines and file marks, too.   The helmet and both shoulder pads come from the Deathwatch kit; the thunder hammer arm comes from the Assault squad kit; the backpack, legs, and torso come from the Tactical/Devastator squad kits; and I don't recall where the bolt pistol arm came from (perhaps the Tactical/Devastator or Assault squad kits). I

Augmetics!

Hi Folks,   After a big summer spent on Pointy Ears for CtA25 challenge, I swapped to the World that Was and focussed on my big back log of Night Gobelins. Painting these photosensitive evil dirty little things is not the most difficult color pallet. But batch painting is something common with GObs, and it might become, say, boring (?). After 3 mobs and 2 characters, I needed a break.   I came back to the sociopathic cyborgs. just to be kept busy and change my mind.
