    Hit the throttle on the Wreckas last week. I've been painting pretty slowly this year all things considered, decided to change that with this project. Finished up free-hand on a few items, got the squigs painted up, did the bases and oil washes last week resulting in a final project I'm pretty happy with!    I dug out some of the leftover terrain bits I had from the sector imperialis/Chalnath terrain. I put a fine terrain paste around those bits and then put in some sand to act as larg

12 Month of Hobby Update- Retributors Part 2

Well we are down to the final 5 days remaining for this month's challenge. And I wonder if I am going to make it. So with that in mind I took time to work on my Retributors this weekend.   I had issues with my vallejo paints clogging my airbrush so I switched to Army Painter Warpaints Air Triad of Regiment Grey (followed by string tone wash), Uniform Grey, and Cadre Grey.     Then once again back to Warpaints Air, this time Encarmine Red for the Multi-Meltas

Thunderhawk round 2 part 3

Well thats thunderhawk 2 me 0. Managed to get a nice red base coat on through the airbrush. Masked up the wings to do the black details and there was no paint coming out the airbrush. So I disassembled the air brush and the nozzle was so jammed up only about 1/3 of the needle was showing through the nozzle! So after a bit of cleaning I returned to the thawk, sprayed over what i had masked out, removed the tape and.... paint seepage! I left some lovely tape lines aswell. I tried to sand thes

Thinning paint to a milk-like consistency.... my airbrush woes

The other day I primed my Adepta Sororitas Retributors with Army Painter Matt Black primer and a zenithal of Army Painter Matt White Primer.      Next day I went to paint them with Vallejo Model Colour Basalt grey. Got the bodies done and then airbrush stopped working.... Since I have quite a few other armies/projects, I figure that rather than create new blogs for all of them I'll consolidate them into one. 12 Months of Hobby - February update #1

Loxodon Guard Part 7: Looking Ahead

So this is where the collection stands currently, It about 60 infantry and characters and 4 Dreadnoughts.  I think I got the Space Marine bug. They are super easy to build and paint. there a lot of character that you have give them also.    What's next for them? I do want another Apothecary, I might get a Redemptor Dreadnought and jazz him up for a "Titan Father". If GW makes a Venerable Redemptor Dreadnought I will hop on that one. Thunderhawk round 2 part 2

Managed to get a decent prime coat on the thawk today aswell as priming a necron lord and chaos lord. It was interesting to see the difference between the black and grey primer going through the air brush, the thawk had  2 coats of grey whilst the necron and chaos lords only needed the one black undercoat in my opinion.  Both primers are vallejo thinned 2 primer :1 thinner with a couple of drops of flow improver. The black went down beautifully and as I said the grey needed a bit of going over.

Thunderhawk round 2 part 1

I had a stab at painting this thunderhawk previously with an air brush (my first time using one) and things did not go well!! So after a few days of soaking in floor cleaner and scrubbing with a tooth brush I think it's time for another go. Plan is to re prime it with vallejo grey primer as this stuff seems to go on smooth and very thin, much nicer than the halfords auto primer rattle cans that I have used for most of my guys to date! I've had a box of blood angels tactical marines that I have been painting up for a while now. This is the 10th and last one all done (finally!!) I've tried to go for an old but well maintained look, painting the chest decoration and other accessories in a weathered brass sort of style. So one of the guiding themes of the Loxodon Guard was that they respected Resilience and Experience. Which made me gravitate towards the Dreadnoughts. Hi folks,   Last entry was about managing the almost daily/weekly organization of my painting backlog. It led me to comment about the dynamic underneath my approach of model stacking into the painting queues. Conclusion was that as far as I am concerned, I work better if I run multiple projects in parallel and if I feed the pipe in a revolving way.
