The Resistance have finally captured the war machines they believe they require to make their stand.

Hit the throttle on the Wreckas last week. I've been painting pretty slowly this year all things considered, decided to change that with this project. Finished up free-hand on a few items, got the squigs painted up, did the bases and oil washes last week resulting in a final project I'm pretty happy with!
I dug out some of the leftover terrain bits I had from the sector imperialis/Chalnath terrain. I put a fine terrain paste around those bits and then put in some sand to act as larg
So am I back from Indiana. I have to head back to move In-Laws into a Retirement Center, in a few weeks. And of course everything goes sideways at work moment I get back. So hobby time has been non existence. Silver Lining is LGS not get Saturnine until Monday, so I can get everything I need to do first i.e. my XIXth Legion and Exorcists Call to Arms Vows, that I have not started. And won't have time this weekend.
I did start on building one of My XIVth Legion Commanders, not sure w
Hi Folks,
Today’s blog entry is a little bit specific as it deals with something different from my usual inputs: instead of reporting hobbying progress, I will talk about a trail I did for a new technique (à la TITH – i.e. something that is not new in general but new for me).
The technique is often reported on purpose of adding details and create battle damages or war-torn marks on miniatures. But beyond painting damages, the sponge might be used on purpose of
I've had a box of blood angels tactical marines that I have been painting up for a while now. This is the 10th and last one all done (finally!!) I've tried to go for an old but well maintained look, painting the chest decoration and other accessories in a weathered brass sort of style. I'm not a big fan of gems on armour so I painted these as brass aswell as I like the idea of decoration but not done in expensive or valuable materials as whats the point if its getting shot at!? I would like to a
So one of the guiding themes of the Loxodon Guard was that they respected Resilience and Experience. Which made me gravitate towards the Dreadnoughts. As being interred into a Dreadnought is kind of the ultimate expression of "Only in Death Does Duty End" motto. So I choose to feature Redemptor Dreadnoughts heavily in the army. The Loxodon Guard view the "Titan Brothers" in high esteem. Each echelon (aka company) is given 5 Primaris Dreadnoughts. The oldest dreadnought is referred to as the "Tit
Hi folks,
Last entry was about managing the almost daily/weekly organization of my painting backlog. It led me to comment about the dynamic underneath my approach of model stacking into the painting queues. Conclusion was that as far as I am concerned, I work better if I run multiple projects in parallel and if I feed the pipe in a revolving way. It is all about number, type and variety of color schemes. And it has impacts on my mood and assiduity.
But interestingly enoug

So the Crusade has decided to use the new custom character creation in the Maelstrom supplement. It managed to leak and I'm was able to look up what options are available for Votann. I had previously decided to make a character using the AoS Kharadon Overlords Codewright model, to make an explorer Ironkin who has come back and found his Kindred destroyed. Looking at my list and the character creation, that model would basically be a regular Kahl with some different weapons replacing Uthar in the
Hi folks,
I have recently spent some time dealing with a very serious issue: my painting yield has been reduced of about 50%. And I am not taking as a reference my productivity during lock-down. Rather the average production of mine for the past two years where, on average, I have managed sorting out one unit every 5 days. All game systems included.
So, what happened?
Extra stuff to do beyond hobby? – not really. Or at least not in an amount that prevents me from get

A Palatine is a high-ranking officer of the various orders of the Adepta Sororitas who is often responsible for commanding a Sororitas Mission among the Orders Militant, or acting as a trusted second when an order's canonness takes to the field.

Well my local Crusade/ Campaign is coming up and a few of us are getting the Malestrom: Lair of the Tyrant narrative campaign, for the Crucible of Champions book. So we are excited about the return of our own characters. We are delaying the start so we can decipher the books and decide on a Narrative Campaign, Crusade, or a hybrid of both.
Currently we are leaning towards, Growth Narrative Camp
Obviously, I can't have only one Kill Team! That would just be silly... or two apparently, as I've also picked up the Celestian Insidiants as well!
First off, here's my test scheme for my Aquilons which I'm happy with so will go for this colour scheme!

Was able to make it to the CP league at my local GW and got in some Combat Patroi over the weekend. Got in two games, one against a veteran and the second was a training game versus a new player. Both games I rolled a die to decide which CP I would use of the three I had with me.
First up was a nid on nid bout. Insidious Infiltrators vs my Assault Brood. My opponent set up on three of the objective points due to their force all having Infiltrate. I put the parasite in reserve and t
I’m taking a hiatus from the hobby and cutting back on my use of the forums.
The game's not bringing me joy right now, and I need to focus on my mental health and some personal responsibilities.
Appreciate the community. I’ll check back in when things are better.
Hi Folks,
This year my 12 MoH pledge includes a plodding along pledge again. Last year was too busy and frantic to consider any possible commitment in a long-term project. But 2026 is (so far) allowing projecting oneself in a (relative) stability. From there come the idea of an excavation site as a series of scenery elements.
My Plodding along vow is structured around the MTO scenery ordered last Xmas: Tectonic Drill (oh yeah) and Mechanicum crane (Servohaulers). In order
So when the release of the primaris line in 2017(?) I was on board unlike some people. I remember seeing the Horus Hersey 32mm MkIII models at my local gaming shop and saying "Man, these guys would look great for 40k". Was the release of the primaris the best way to go at the line refresh? Well hindsight is 20/20. It got me to start an army.
When I started the Loxodon Guard, one of the first purchases was the Deathwatch Combat Patrol box. I think I mostly wanted it for the Apothecar
Looks like my Crusade group will be starting the campaign in a couple of weeks, so my brain has been working and stewing and instead of just keeping it inside I decided to share my ramblings.
Now, it looks like Votann have a decent two-part system for their Crusade implementation. Not as easy as Necrons (my last crusade army), which are I think the most simple due to them just requiring a few successful Agendas to max out options, or CSM, which focuses on your Characters getting buf

Hi Folks,
As another installment of this Series for my 12 MoH Plodding along pledge, I have completed the painting of my first pieces of scenery: the Rocky concretion and a Fairy Chimney.
The Styfoam once carved and plastered/textured, has received locally some additional layers of sand and gravel to mimic accumulated ashes and rock debris.
Painting step included a hue made from 2 different colors: dark grey and brownish grey, both from DIY store. The dark gre
THE MAN IN THE BOX
The Crusade Fleet hung over Mars like a crown of steel. The Verdant Oath and her escorts gleamed in the thin light, engines humming a low, patient warning. Dust storms swirled beneath the atmosphere, curling around the temples of the Adeptus Mechanicus like smoke over fire. High Sentinel Varyn Drakus walked the bridge, reviewing manifest after manifest, fleet strength, Blade assignments, and tonnage. Every calculation balanced, every number accounted for—or
Weekly Update #3
Ok, so going to swap the updates from Thursday to Monday cause CP league is on Sunday and it gives me the weekend to get more stuff done.
Right now nothing much. Guardians are done, will get picture after CP is done fully since it was just some minor fixes from last week’s picture. It might be a while since in double checking I can’t find the riders for two of the bikes. I don’t want to take from the new sprues, so will continue looking for a while longe
Preamble
After a fair bit of lurking, list-reading, and quietly nodding along at other people’s excellent paint jobs, I figured it was time to start a hobby log of my own here on Bolter & Chainsword.
This blog is mainly intended as a running record of my Warhammer journey: building, learning, painting, and occasionally questioning my life choices while staring at half-assembled sprues late at night. I’m relatively new to the hobby, coming at it as an adult with limited hobby time
11 years ago, @Brother Tyler created the Liber Challenge, where we created our own Minor Order Militants. My Contribution was the Order of the Partheon. As my my local gaming group prepares for our Crusade, I believe it is time to revisit my Order.

I have a soft spot for snipers. When I recently brainstorm ideas for short stories 3 out of the 10 ideas I came up with had snipers feature in this as the main character. I also have soft spot of the assassins and all things Officio Assasinorum. I remember when the 3rd edition Codex: Assassins was released. My brother and I pick up the both the Vindicare and Callidus assasins. Those models have long since sold off. But I did pick up the current Callidus assassin model
Gwenthar Mor,
Hello all,
A quick update, more just to show that this project is still alive than anything...
I wanted some heavy weapons troopers. Desolation Marines seemed like a good fit, or Devastators if points are tight, or maybe even Long Fangs (if the field manual ever actually has points for them).
However, like most people with a modicum of taste, I don't like the Desolator minis. On the other hand, I love the HH missile launchers, and especially the Proteus II pat
