"Put your trust only in the weapons you bear; for even those you consider closest might harbour thoughts of malice and treason under the familiar visage of a trusted brother." Unnamed Word Bearer Legionary. Unidentified firearm. Speculated to be a Khaladine pattern bolt rifle. Torso plate bears superficial damage, likely from previous engagement.

Greetings fellow followers of the eightfold path. I am a recent convert to the dark powers having long pledged myself to the Dark Angels, I turn now to my most evil creations, the word bearers. These are the word bearers of the black Heralds chapter and I hope to use this as way to show off paint jobs, bat reps and flesh out the storyline of this legion offshoot. By way of intro here’s my first ever batrep using them. Hope you like it… part 1 With the imperial capital falling to the hands of Chaos and the Forces of the Death Guard ascendant a new threat emerges on the calixis sector and the Hazeroth Abyss. The Word bearers have come forth lead by their Dark Apostle Kor Harken. Their sights have been set on the world of Regulus. Leaving a bloody trail of victims, Harken and his possessed have nearly complete control of the planet. After surprise at the swiftness of their arrival, the Black Templar garrison on their fortress world of Cloister have sent a relief force led by brother Redemptor Karno and his captain Altair. The brother Captain Tomaso Altair brings forth his brothers to confront the menance… Deployment: the word bearers have set up in the agricultural processing facility. While the black templars setup at the edge of the city. Wb Dark apostle Cultists 10 Possessed 5+ 1 champion Obliterators x2 Black templars Captain Assault intercessors x5 Veteran Bladeguard x3 Redemptor dreadnaught ‘Prepare to show these dogs the power of the Pantheon!” T1 - Black Templars Marines burst forward from cover of the red temple ‘Cut down down the heretic with blade of faith and hearts of hate!’ The redemptor dreadnaught unleashes its hell fire on the obliterators but the word bearers use a hexaggrammatic ward blunting its potency. T1-word bearers The word bearers move about the cliffs for protection, while obliterators unleash on the bladeguard, the cultists take a few shots at the bladeguard inflicting 1 wound. “Prepare to die imperial dogs” The resulting melee sees the intercessors left with only blood stumps, while the possessed take minimal casualties. Full batrep found at blog spot but rest will be posted here over the week. http://legionofcaliban.blogspot.com/2022/09/calixis-campaign-eightfold-path.html

It has been quite some time, and Warhammer has changed along with B&c. I don’t quite know where to start with my word bearers, but here’s where I’m at. How is the life of a chaos marine nowadays?

After a year and a bit of painting Guardsmen and starting not Squats (Wargames Atlantics Einherjar) for games of 1st ed I thought Id return to my one true love Chaos (not Kebabs, but they are a close second). After a bit of head scratching on what to do and all the retro feels bouncing about currently due to the 35 years of 40k I started thinking back to the glory days of my younger years and my first proper Chaos army (not including the mish mash of stuff I had from RoC). The army in question was inspired by this John Blanche army in the 2nd ed codex, but back then my idea of painting was literally throw paint at the mini and hope it looks ok, so it looked nothing like what I was trynna achieve. Now at least I understand shading and blending (even though I still throw paint at the minis) so I thought Id have another pop at trying to replicate (shamelessly copy) this army. I have even picked up a Mephiston and Vet Sgt Centurius for this project, and Im currently eyeing some Asmodais on ebay for the Icon Bearer (still trynna find the old Verminlord for the right price though). There are some other influences Ill be 'borrowing' ideas from, some are other Blanche minis shown in WD 150 and Fred Marcarini's minis (painted by some chap called Lorenzo) in WD199. Blanches stuff. Freds. As they are all Khorne marines I think that has dictated what God Ill be following this time around, but I dont want to be locked into World Eaters, so I have decided to combine them with younger me's other interest of Occultism, Demonology and the Esoteric (I used to play Dark Angels and the fact they named the characters after Demons amused me, clearly Traitors). So it looks like Khornate Word Bearers or a renegade chapter that used to have worryingly close ties to the Ecclesiarchy before they fell. I dont really have much in the way of 'lore' for these yet, and I dont remember what I wrote all those years ago other than they were super edgy and called themselves 'The Damned' (I went through a bit of a dodgy Goth phase before I discovered Black Metal) so I get the fun part of starting from scratch (name will be changed as well) so I guess its time for me to dig out all my old books that would have gotten my door kicked in my Matthew Hopkins back in the day and start bashing ideas together into some form of background.

Word Bearers Word Bearers list for 1st 9th ed Tournament
Zeruel posted a topic in + HERETIC ASTARTES +
Have a tournament coming up in December. Newer local store is running their first event. It's going to be a smaller points event, they have several newer players that got into the game over the pandemic. I've been playing 40k since 3rd but mostly skipped over 7th and most of 8th and have only been playing 9th regularly for a few months since I found this new group. I plan to play my CSM at the event and I'm just looking for some tips on list building. I'm not too concerned with it being ultra competitive, most of the players there are going to be pretty casual so I'm aiming for that sweet spot of strong but not exactly min/maxed. We've also been playing mostly just Tempest or War or normal Eternal War missions so I have almost no experience with Nephilim and secondaries so would love tips on what I should be picking there too. Anyway here's the list ++ Battalion Detachment 0CP (Chaos - Chaos Space Marines) [65 PL, 3CP, 1,250pts] ++ + Configuration + Battle Size [6CP]: 3.
