Since I have participated in and completed my Call to Arms pledges, I've really taken a liking to the WIP subforum. As I've finished with my Chaos pledges, I've decided to finally tackle the Kroot Fatstalkers I got last year. This is a continuation of the Kroot that I first started… 14ish years ago. I painted this guy right out of high school, alongside his 15 kin that came in the Carnivore set. Teenage me did not realize that unthinned Testors model car paint was NOT the paint for 40k minis. Then came BSF, in which Dayhek Grekh was 50% of why I bought the game After Grekh was done and I started developing an interest in Kill Team (pre-Farstalkers) I decided to strip half the Carnivores, get some Kroothounds and Krootox, and paint them in the same style Since I didn’t start basing until like a year ago, I think this group still count as WIP

First post here, hope I've done it right and this is the correct board... Took advantage of good lighting conditions this evening to get some shots of my traitor guard army, the Sylvanic Rifles, in progress. I'll document it here as it grows. First up, a platoon command squad. CNC welcome :)

I've had a chaos army for...well, every. I've decided they needed an overhaul, mostly because my ADD seems to not allow me to work on one project at a time. So, these guys were dusted off, unboxed and painted dark brown. Here's the paint test 'dummy'....though I don't call him that too his face. http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-MCd9rnCyCbo/T8bn0RSEAnI/AAAAAAAAAbQ/wWzqXs1GeYQ/s1600/TemplarDm001pip.jpg I have about 27-30 or so of these marines, converted to be a bit nurgly. I'm going to use them as regular marines with a Nurgly icon. I've got some other toys I'll be showing you in the near future. But the overall concept is as it has been since the last codex came out- stinky, nasty Nurgly... with a bit of Khorne. Here's one of my Nurgle champions, painting in progress. http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-qO6pB2eiiMU/T8botOHcKbI/AAAAAAAAAbY/zwt8KIUo0Zs/s1600/ChampNurg001pip.jpg More foolishness on MY HOBBY BLOG if you want to check it out. Cheers ya'll!

Originally, I had started this army....well, lord knows how long ago. In fact its been through several incarnations. During the last Edition of 40K it was allies for my Chaos army. Since the new edition broke, frankly its been collecting dust while I work on other things and figure out what I want to do with it. But, what can we do but sell all our crap(for pennies on the dollar) or soldier on. The army is a nurgly/creepy fallen army of Chaos, SO..in light of that. I'll start by showing some pics of what I have in progress and we'll get the old ball rolling again First off, the sentinals..as they stand, in progress these days. http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-_iRNVo1idHM/UVPpTicceTI/AAAAAAAABI0/zvAEx5i4Qwg/s1600/SentPIP01.jpg There is one more with the same progress. The Leman Russes are next. There are 4. 2 have magnetized main guns. http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-xSHUdBYPDNE/UW8c6eQD2OI/AAAAAAAABJs/tb-PYzqqrNs/s1600/TurretsPip03.jpg Here's a shot of one of my Exterminator. Still need to be dirtied up/weathered and detailed. http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-yc5Dg0P0_gc/UW8eLl4XxhI/AAAAAAAABJ0/o4ntBBIitB8/s1600/TankPip05.jpg Here's 3 of the hulls after Phase 1 of the weahering (basically a bunch o' drybrushing) http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ebgvI-b5NKg/Uckn7aklRXI/AAAAAAAABOQ/JzuBhsTDFB4/s1600/tankengines.jpg And their Turrets.... in Progress. http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-SopiFe0oq9w/UcknKxIwlvI/AAAAAAAABOE/N159MSK3t58/s1600/Tankturrets01.jpg The only thing really finished for this army is one Command Squad..... (with Straken stand-in) http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-iSyItWoZpAY/UJDJBYprQ6I/AAAAAAAAAwg/wAXBCc32NYE/s1600/CommSquadDone01.jpg http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-EbJ9GZX3nvY/UJDI_QARX_I/AAAAAAAAAwY/UiusJIzonBE/s1600/CommSquadDone02.jpg http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-gPIsPRh8y4s/UJDJ9YXb_pI/AAAAAAAAAwo/MsIgvwzlP_w/s1600/CommSquadExtras.jpg And an OLD unit of veterans I converted years ago and gave a new paintjob.... http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-qcQdXwenrgE/UJDHX5T9NNI/AAAAAAAAAwQ/okT1LV-gveM/s1600/Vetsquaddone.jpg I DO have painted Chaos cultists which will find their way into the army. I used to use then as Penal Squads, but they don't exist anymore. I've got plenty of models... just need to get them finished. I'll post some background and other fun stuff next. Let me know what you think of them so far.

Hi everyone. I've been a 40k fan since 1987 and have normally stuck with modelling Space Marines ( I have also dabbled with Catachans and the Deathwatch as well). The closest I've been to Chaos models were the Chaos Space Marines and cultists from the Dark Vengeance box set. I have always used them as dead heretics on bases ..... and I also made a large diorama..... But normally, any chaos models I have made are dead! I read all of the Commissar Gaunt and Cain books over the lock downs and with the release of the Traitor Guardsmen models from the Blackstone Fortress expansion, my creative juices started flowing - it got me interested in starting a Chaos Traitor Guard and Cultist army. There have been rumours recently about Squats returning to the 40k universe and having bought a few of the plastic Space Dwarves when they were released in the early 1990's, I managed to locate them recently and realised how small they were compared to current models. As I was planning on making as many Chaos Traitor Guardsmen as I could from as many of the well known Imperial Guard regiments, I thought I would try and make some Chaos Squats. I give you my first Chaos Squat. Apologies for the dust on the photo's, I was so excited to show these models that I hadn't quite finished them. The body is made from a Kharadron Overlord with all of it's stomach and neck armour removed. I then used milliput to model the flak jacket and when it was nearly dry, I used a sharp, wet scalpel to cut the distinctive diamond design. Thin strips of plasticard were used to make his harness webbing. I used more milliput to make the knee guards and made a mould to use for future Squats. I thought Catachan arms would look great on Squats, so I chose the Bolter from the Catachan Command Squad (with a chain blade from a Horus Heresy kit I had in my bits box) and the left arm from a Catachan squaddie, alongside the knife. I made a mould from an original plastic Squat helmet. Once the milliput was set, I then added the pulled down visor for a cool effect. I added some spare bolter magazines from Horus Heresy kits I had alongside some grenades and pack from some scouts. I used a mould of the Chaos star from one of the cultist models and added it to the belt. Shoulder pads were made from moulds of Valkyrie gunners and then had plastic spikes added from Chaos Marauder flails. I also added spikes to the top of his boots as well. I added a plastic Catachan knife sheath to his left side ... and a moulded las pistol to the right. You can also see I added a Horus Heresy sword/knife diagonally down his back. For comparison purposes, the Squat is shown next to a Chaos Traitor Guard I've also made using a FW renegade torso, Cadian legs and shoulder pads, Catachan arms and boots moulded from the Blackstone Fortress Traitor Guard. I've loved making these models and have already made a start on many more. I promise to update as often as I can, but please ask if you have any questions. Till next time

I am a long time 40k player and I've been on the BnC for a few years. I remember back in high school constantly looking at the Siege of Vraks stuff on Forgeworld's website, though never buying anything because I was a teenager with no money. I was fascinated with the idea of traitor guard and promised myself In would build such an army one day. Unfortunately, the Vraksian renegades went OOP before I committed to building this army. However, I have been slowly amassing a number of non-power armor chaos miniatures to back up my many Heretic Astartes projects. My random chaos minis box is now full of dark vengeance cultists, traitor guard, a few beastmen negavolt cultists, and two rogue psykers. I also have around 30 necromunda models that have been kitbashed to make some traitor militia. My plan for this former Cadian regiment is to have a core of professional soldiers (BSF traitor guard, necromunda enforces, kitbashed Cadians) and hordes of poorly armed "conscripts" (cultists, necromunda gangers, beastmen etc.) In terms of armor, I recently one 12 IS-48 Heavy Tanks and Heavy Artillery Tanks from Dust 1947 that I will be modifying with 40k weapon options. I have also backed a the Lunar Auxilia Kickstarter and will be receiving all of the infantry (command and line) STL files, so I will be printing a lot of troops. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/thatevilone/lunar-auxilia Because these guys look far more well armored and equipped than the cultists and even the traitor guardsmen, they will make up a different regiment. I plan on getting a Malcador Tank or two to back these guys up. Thanks for reading. Photos will be coming soon.

Hey everyone, DiscipleOfTheWord here. A few years back I started my 9th host with a topic here in the B&C, but quickly gave up due to poor camera quality, and eventually drifted out of the hobby. But, with the release of 8th edition, I've decided to get back into it, and restart. Although I already have some Word Bearers models assembled and a small number painted, I'm going to repaint details on all of them at some point, so I'll post pictures of them once that is done. Once I've got a few units fully painted I will start making some fluff for the army, but at the moment all I have is the name of my Dark Apostle, the number of my host and a few other names here and there. Anyway, enough talking, I'll start with some pics of the few models I have painted (fully) at the moment. First Acolyte Sor Talgron: Helbrute: Possessed: Bloodletter: Marines: Malefic Lord: Cultist: Heldrake: And what's on my paint station at the moment: (You have no idea how long it took to paint that script) More photos soon. Please tell me what you think!

Alright, tested out my happy little witches yesterday. The Markovian 49th 'Mad Dogs' were sent in to root out the remnants of a Tyranid hive fleet. A junior officer was given the unenviable task of herding his throngs of mutants and psykers into battle. In order to supplement the scouring, the renegades had been loaned a few daemonic engines of destruction by their Death Guard masters. I took a battalion: 1 renegade officer, my warlord, Major Jystinian Kraeth, with plasma pistol and brutal close combat weapon and covenant of Nurgle 4x10 mutants with autoguns (all the mutant bosses had brutal close combat weapons) 2 foetid blight drones chaos decimator with butcher cannon and claw I also took a supreme command detachment with 3 malefic lords and an enforcer with plasma pistol and brutal close combat weapon. My buddy fielded Tyranids. He took a giant pile of hormagaunts in one squad, a giant pile of termagants, also as a solitary squad, along with a smattering of short-range warriors, a warrior prime, and Big Momma the Tervigon (his warlord). So, before the battle I rolled up my mutations- and got triple ones and a 3. I used a command point to try and salvage the situaion (not sure if you can do this but my opponent allowed it) and rolled another 1. Long story short 15 of my mutants apparently had smothered themselves in their sleep the night before the battle. Lesson learned- don't tempt fate. The mission ended up being 'drawn and quartered' so both of us had a pair of far-flung objectives to hold on our own table halves. This wasn't a big deal for me since I had a couple of half-dead mutie squads that wouldn't be good for much besides squatting behind a tower or hill and playing patty-cake with their tendrils. We also drew our ruse cards that gave us special abilities army-wide(?!). I drew a very handy one that made my entire army auto-pass any and all moral checks (which made my enforcer sad). We set up, my ragged throng mostly in front of my characters, the drones on my right staring down Big Momma and her brood. The decimator was in the middle, since they are crazy fast. Since the butcher cannon is heavy, I ended up moving the decimator basically every other turn to keep up. Within my deployment zone I can only hold one objective but planned on moving to seize the other by the end of turn 1. The nids set up, similarly holding one objective and keen on gaining one more. He gets first turn and as he moves up the field with his horde he reveals his trap card- apparently he can essentially deepstrike a squad that could otherwise not. So his hormagaunts vanish and then reappear 9.1" away from my mutant gunline. Teleporting Tyranids, just what the galaxy needed. He gets off the long-range charge with the help of a command point and the swarm barrels into my hapless mutants. I actually manage to gun down a couple in overwatch and then the pain starts. The aliens multicharge and hit like a train, managing to assault all but one mutant squad cringing in the back near my lone held objective. Lots of mutants die. Lots of them. Two squads are wiped completely (with a fair amount of overkill wounds) and all but 3 of the doughty mutants with extra attacks explode. On my turn the the beleaguered mutants scramble to safety and the malelific lords start smiting, with one of them also unleashing a -3 Creeping Terror. The tervigon is too far away to deny so it gets messy for the nids fast. The decimator waded in amid a hail of fire from the blight drones and since the hormagaunts outside of synapse they get vaporized between the fire and morale. The warriors, blight drones and decimator exchange shots as I work my way closer to the bulk of the Tyranid army. His long-range firepower was somewhat limited, but a lot of my army's damage was tied up in smites and plague spitters, so I had to get in close too. The objectives are situated in such a way that the 'nids are separated trying to hold both. A group of six warriors and a prime are on one, and the tervigon and the termagants hold the other with a good 20" to 24" inches in between. One of the drones got banged up thanks to massed fleshborers, but in order to shoot the drones they abandoned one of the objectives (which proved catastrophic). I got greedy and had the drones return some speculative shots at the termagants, but Big Momma just replaced the losses automatically next turn. I quickly decided to concentrate my firepower on the warriors since they stayed dead when I shot them. By the the end of turn 4 I had reduced the warrior brood to steaming jello thanks to the malific lords and the blight drones. Up until this point, I had one malific lord hidden on the forward objective, and three mutants holding the other in my deployment zone. The malific lord managed to stay out of sight thanks to some tricky positioning of the objective which was a spire like structure. On the final turn, the injured prime executed a very tricky assault that nearly killed Major Kraeth. My opponent was trying to get 'Secure the Warlord,' but the traitor officer survived, fell back, and the decimator contemptuously shredded the wounded monster. Amid lots of dead gaunts and mutants, we tallied up our points and discovered that Slay the Warlord, Linebreaker and First Blood weren't standard as in previous iterations of the game. Only the progressive objectives mattered; accordingly, scoring worked like this: Turn 1 Tyranids 2, Nurgle Heretics 1 (after the hormagaunt charge I didn't manage to get anyone onto my other distant objective). Turn 2 Tyranids 4, Nurgle Heretics 2 (this turn I just plain forgot to move someone close enough to the forlorn 2nd objective, RIP) Turn 3 Tyranids 5, Nurgle Heretics 4 (gaunts left their objective to bring all their guns to bear) Turn 4 Tyranids 6, Nurgle Heretics 6 (gaunts back on the objective but the warriors are dead) Turn 5 Tyranids 7, Nurgle Heretics 8 I had squeaked out a win for the forces of Chaos! There were lots of tactical mistakes on both sides, I think. Failing to score on my 2nd objective twice nearly cost me the game (d'oh!). Mutants work way better in big blobs than smaller squads, and I really ate crow with all those pre-game 1's getting rolled. That being said, my many small squads and characters let me hold objectives, where as the huge but limited 'nid broods were unable to spread out enough to seize or contest much. The malefic lords were good- 3d3 mortal wounds doesn't count for too much against massed Tyranids, but it really helped bring down the warriors and crippled the prime easily. I also used Creeping Terror on the hormagaunts, which contributed to their destruction. Shadow In the Warp was annoying so I generally avoided getting my blasphemous sorcerers anywhere near the Tervigon and her spawn. 7/7 would recommend to any servant of Chaos, even you blood-addled Khornate folks! My officer and enforcer didn't do too much, but both got in a few wounds with their plasma pistols and they delightfully inexpensive. I think I saved 2 wounds the whole game with the Covenant of Nurgle. I was unimpressed with the Chaos decimator. I have used him in a couple of battles now and he always seems to do very little; maybe I just need more guns. A storm laser or two may fit the bill. The blight drones are great. They put out good damage, are reasonably hard to put down, and are very useful for influencing how your enemy moves and fights.

Howdy folks, getting back into the swing of things for 8th and the Legion War is the perfect motivation! I snagged a very nice Atropos knight that I am in the process of strapping dead bodies to and covering with rust, all in the name of Papa Nurgle. Will likely post other things here when I finish, hence the other tags. Any and all tips and critiques are welcome! If the photos are execrable, I apologize in advance. I am no photographer. http://i.imgur.com/Gok2ta4.jpg Here are all the bits, with just some of it primed. This is about a week old or so. http://i.imgur.com/YxLkByz.jpg Spiky Bits all over the carapace. Need to magnetize this so it can lift off without too much wear on the paint. I am not sure there are enough spikes. Is it clear this thing is a Chaos Knight? http://i.imgur.com/7Yr5bVH.jpg Disassembled body, shoulders and weapons. Weapons are magnetized, and when it all snaps together it looks something like this: http://i.imgur.com/jbRlzre.jpghttp://i.imgur.com/TC6ioRv.jpg Armor plating. This is just the first coat or two, still need lots of weathering and wear and tear. http://i.imgur.com/TC6ioRv.jpg http://i.imgur.com/sOKpeIe.jpg Close up of the head. Added mandibles to make it look a bit more sinister and insectile. http://i.imgur.com/K5OKm6S.jpg Control panel, cracked and useless... which is fine because the pilot can't read. I am very not good at detail work, might be a symptom of my limited color palette. http://i.imgur.com/C92Kaoa.jpg Mummified (mostly) dead fella at the controls. I used bits from the corpse cart and wedged 'em in there, and I am glad I am a traitor because a good chunk of the left armrest had snapped off in shipping. http://i.imgur.com/7udahEm.jpg Legs, with rust and an additional friend hanging around. I am pretty proud of the rust- made my own in an oiler bottle using bleach and white vinegar. The effect is authentic enough but it creates a bit of chlorine gas as a byproduct. That is ok though- you can't dedicate a project to Nurgle without a bit of poison fumes wafting about! Seriously though, good ventilation is key. http://i.imgur.com/zqEiM2h.jpg And bonus is a little kitbashed daemon prince. I need to clean up/disguise his GUO elbow as well as that vox sitting on his back, and probably mess with the DE masks to make them more 'Plague Garden' and less 'Commorragh' but you get the idea.

Vraksian Enforcer "The weak will always be led by the strong. Where the strong see purpose and act, the weak follow; where the strong cry out against fate, the weak bow their heads and succumb. There are many who are weak; and many are their temptations. Despise the weak for they shall flock to the call of the Daemon and the Renegade. Pity them not and scorn their cries of innocence - it is better that one hundred innocently fall before the wrath of the Emperor than one kneels before the Daemon."" - The First Book of Indoctrinations Overview I must have been on-off on-off with regards to Warhammer over the years, largely because of the numerous projects that I've started and lacked the motivation to finish. With this in mind, I've decided to start anew. I'll list anything that I am working on, such as the new Cultists I'm prepping for an upcoming Escalation campaign at my local Games Workshop, but I'll avoid setting targets for myself. This is also the perfect opportunity for me to start playing around with conversion techniques and materials that I don't typically use (such as greenstuff and plasticard) Ongoing Projects Traitor Guard. Slaaneshi Cultists. Thunder Warriors. To kick it all off, 1/3rd of one of my Traitor Guard/Cultist squads. I wanted these dudes to stick to the "former IG" aesthetic as much as possible whilst making it clear that they aren't loyalists anymore. To this end I used the GSC Brood Brothers as the base (or the Cadian Shock Troops, I forget which) with some heads from the GSC Upgrade Frame, a Flagellant head, an Orlock head and some arms from the Skitarii Rangers. I took stock of some spare Space Marine melta bombs that I had lying around and I've been using those to represent gas canisters. Although, the thought of doing a suicidal cultist all strapped up with melta bombs and krak grenades for dealing with enemy armour is enticing now... An Icon Bearer and two generic Cultists. I wanted to break up the squads a bit, so they weren't just stacked with autoguns and heavy stubbers. The Vox Caster and the Medic seemed like practical additions to the squads as well; I imagine that even the Traitor Guard recognise the need for a well-trained surgeon from time to time, and I like to think that it's a bit of a holdover from their days as loyalists. I used a mixture of bits from the Cadian and Catachan command squads, as well as the icon from a Chaos Chariot. I threw in some leftovers from the GSC Upgrade Frame for good measure as well. Last but not least; a Slaaneshi Enforcer that I started way, way back in 2017 and never got around to doing anything with. Now that I'm actually working on my Traitor Guard/Cultists a bit more I feel like it's time to finish this dude off. He was converted up using bits from the Hellstriders of Slaanesh kit and some Neophyte Hybrids. I'll post some more up a little later this week when I'm ready to show off the rest. I've got some greenstuff/plasticard work to do in the meantime!
