    XIVth Legion build

    By W.A.Rorie

So am I back from Indiana. I have to head back to move In-Laws into a Retirement Center, in a few weeks. And of course everything goes sideways at work moment I get back. So hobby time has been non existence. Silver Lining is LGS not get Saturnine until Monday, so I can get everything I need to do first i.e. my XIXth Legion and Exorcists  Call to Arms Vows, that I have not started. And won't have time this weekend.   I did start on building one of My XIVth Legion Commanders, not sure w

    Jagieŀŀo inspects their prizes

    By GSCUprising

The Resistance have finally captured the war machines they believe they require to make their stand.   Brutus, the Malcador, reliable, dependable the spine of their battleline. She will not fail them. She will hold the line, her battlecannon roaring, her sponsons blazing as she paves the way for the Resistance's advance. Wrapping Wreckas

    By zulu.tango

Hit the throttle on the Wreckas last week. I've been painting pretty slowly this year all things considered, decided to change that with this project. Finished up free-hand on a few items, got the squigs painted up, did the bases and oil washes last week resulting in a final project I'm pretty happy with!    I dug out some of the leftover terrain bits I had from the sector imperialis/Chalnath terrain. I put a fine terrain paste around those bits and then put in some sand to act as larg

    Square Pants Bob

    By Bouargh

Hi Folks,   Today’s blog entry is a little bit specific as it deals with something different from my usual inputs: instead of reporting hobbying progress, I will talk about a trail I did for a new technique (à la TITH – i.e. something that is not new in general but new for me).     The technique is often reported on purpose of adding details and create battle damages or war-torn marks on miniatures. But beyond painting damages, the sponge might be used on purpose of

Teleport Strike Countdown: T Minus - 6 days

We are 6 days out until Game day.... And well Friday, was wife's birthday so no hobby time.  Saturday and Sunday tho...   Starting with Dreadnought- Colors getting blocked out,   Then washed and on to highlights     Dreadnought weapons Done (1 of 3 models completed)   Now to Brother Captain             And Brother Captain Liam De Harcourt done (model 2 of 3)

I had said I was done... not yet apparently

Hi Folks,   I though I was done with AdMech, owning now enough models to field a good sized army even at larger game size. Yet it appeared that my project to complete the painting of the last Sicarians ans Sulphurhounds lefts is not going to be the ultimate task related to this faction. I have indeed fallen again into the sin of compulsive buying and have just added these two lads:     The Skatros itself is not that useful in my army structure, as I already have 5

Warhammer World- Nottingham

OMG.......Store #2 of the Honeymoon. WARHAMMER WORLD, such an unreal experience. The exhibit hall, the gaming area, the store, and even with Bugman's being remodeled it was still cool thing.      The Rhino, the Space Marine statue, and LT. Titus such a site to see in person. Yes I am wearing a Grey Knight shirt.    I was shocked to see the Tyranid invasion of Fenris was in the main lobby   one of my favorite pieces in the lobby was this mode

Warhammer- Belfast

So while on a Tour of Northern Ireland, the tour stopped in Belfast for about 2 hours self guided tour and lunch. After Lunch at Hellcat Maggie's, the wife and I were about start walking around Belfast and I made a joke that there should be Warhammer store near by. She laughed said better not be. turned the corner and there it was. Store #6      Store was about the size of my local stores and pretty busy.

Ynnari Priestess - a quick kitbash

Hi folks,   I have decided to refrain from painting anything 40k related for the next 30 days, until the launch of CtA25. yet, in the mean time, it does not mean I have suspended all hobby stuff. Models to be painted require being prepared and built for example.  In this vein, I had this Magus character from the GSC Combat Patrol left. And, as you might know, I do not play GSC (and/or pretend I do not hobby these lads neithers). What can I do with this model if it is not GSC?

The Enemy does not sleep, nor shall we. - Prelude

The planet of Khymara Prime was quiet. While the Hive cities may had some light activity to them, the main city, Khymara Prime Proper, was quiet. Khymara Prime Proper consisted of Imperial Adminstratum buildings, Ecclesiarch buildings and an Adeptus Arbites Precient and the older ruined Imperial buildings. Nothing visible stirred in the buildings, ruined or not. The Convent of the Valorous Heart with it's high walled fence had limited torches lit. The Governess's Palace was dark along with the v

Teleport Strike Countdown: T Minus - 8 Days

Well 2 of my (adopted step) sons had Kindergarten Graduation last night so, instead of an hour+ paint time, I got about 30 minutes. I painted purity seals, scrolls, book pages (I forgot the book on the Brother-Captain's belt), and the browns.            With today being wife's birthday, not sure how much I'll get done tonight but I'll have more time Saturday.

Warhammer- Dublin

At this point on the Honeymoon it has became a hunt for me to find Warhammer stores near our hotel. Originally our plan was to stay at the Zanzibar Locke Hotel in Dublin (99 meters away) but changed it to Trinity City Hotel (850 meters away). This store was about twice the size of my home state stores. But had some really nice models on display. I thought I got a pic of the amazing Iron Snakes that the staff member did.    Store #5

Phase 2 - Game 3

Forgotten versus the Frozen Fists, part II Mission: Heralds of Vengeance Points: 1750 Forgotten win the battle, 12-3 (Forgotten were Attacker, went 1st). 1 SAP gained from Victory, 1 SAP gained from Strategic Dominance, 1 SAP gained from Prime Macro-Ordnance. Chaos Glory points gained 4. New path totals (6/7/7), now Favored in Warfleet and Dark Gods. Use Warfleet bonus for -1RP on Legendary Veterans (Raptor squad Xelith). Did not gain second bonus from either path. No uni

Teleport Strike Countdown: T Minus - 9 Days

Well with my 1500 point game vs @The_Oni_of_Hindsight's World Eaters and another friend's Khorne Daemon army coming up in now 9 days, it is time to get cracking on the 3 models I need to paint: Nemesis Dreadknight, Venerable Dreadnought Weapons, and Custom Brother Captain. All models are base coated with Citadel Leadbelcher spray.   Last night I began painting all the gold parts using Army Painter Fanatic Greedy Gold.   Venerable Dreadnought Plasma Cannon, Incinerator, and Dr

Warhammer- Edinburgh

On 04/30 the Wife and I were in Edinburgh, Scotland.....Warhammer store 0.1 mile for hotel, wife was slightly annoyed which I was very humorous to me. Awesome Kill Team display board.  Store had a limited amount of Forgeworld and was about the same size as my local stores. I did get to hang out with the employees for a bit. Plus look at that view of Edinburgh Castle! Store #4 visited!

Ramblings on the Printed Rulebooks

It's time once again for ramblings about a seemingly random issue that might not be that important, but which has been living rent-free in my vacuous noggin for a while now and which I hope to exorcise by sharing it with unsuspecting readers (like an online version of The Ring ). The issue is the format of printed rulebooks; and while my thoughts apply to rulebooks for tabletop miniature wargames (or, as Mike Hutchinson and Glenn Ford suggest in The Fundamentals of Tabletop Miniatures Game Desig

Warhammer - York

Saving Warhammer World for the last....     So on 04/29 My wife and I were walking to our hotel in York, I laughed as we were 280 feet from Warhammer York. This would be Warhammer store #3. It was a little bigger than the Warhammer Stores here. And I loved their store display.            I did purchase my Astra Militarum Codex here.

Warhammer Store- London

While I was trying to keep a blog while on my 19 day Honeymoon in UK/ Ireland and I really disliked typing it out on my phone and trying to keep it forum related.  My Wife and I planned on going to Nottingham for a day (04/28) and going to Warhammer World while there. We arrived in London on 4/22 and crashed out. The morning 04/23 We were about to begin our tour of London, I was curious where the closest Warhammer Store was. Turns out it was just under a mile away from hotel.

Armored Support acquired......

So I have a problem with my Grey Knights.....a Land Raider problem       So I have 4 Land Raiders...and I think I have 2 more to build (Phobos and Redeemer)...Or had   While on my 19 day Honeymoon in the UK/ Ireland, one of the many stops was in Warhammer World and I left with this kit....     While the rules don't exist for these or if Grey Knights have these....Mine will. I will make them more Grey Knight looking, hopefully.

Strike Force Accipitus - The Cleansing of Tabor

This past weekend, the Iron Hearts completed their first crusade campaign of 10th Edition (I know, that took a while!) and cleansed the Tabor System of the Agripinaa Sector of Tyranid infestation.    After an initial defeat attempting to cleanse the Space Hulk Song of Sorrows and rescue a trapped Inquisitor, the Iron Hearts landed Strike Force Accipitus on the hive world of Tabor to deal with the arriving Tyranid threat. Under the leadership of Brother-Captain Vakarian, Strike Force Accip

Apologies for the lack of updates over the past few weeks. Had a few things going on I won't burden you with. Now, it is time to return to the sciroccos and the sands of Prawa V. For context, I've already finished this story and we're about 1/3 of the way through. This is the first draft, so any and all constructive criticism is most welcome. I've not yet returned to it to revise for the second draft, so am open to ideas. (Yes, @W.A.Rorie, that includes your mini-Napolean complex Cyclops.)

The Forge of Silence opens - the Campaign finale!

Yesterday at my local gaming group, Framhammer we played a big team game, the finale to 'The Forge of Silence' Narrative Crusade campaign I've been running. This game saw three teams - Imperial, Votann and Necrons - face-off across two game areas; the first a pretty big 132"x60" table (3 standard 40k tables joined together ), the second a 'sort of' Boarding Actions type of affair.      The first area was on the surface of Rostokhar III, where the campaign was fought; narrati

Evil gooses. And armed to teeth.

Hi folks.   It is done. These Scourges couldn't stay WIP for too long. I took oportunity of some free time on Saturday to complete the bodies and put final glue touch. I end up with enough models to build up 2 squads, distributing the HW between these. I preview deployments with a anti-tank tooled up squad and an anti-infantery/multi-purpose squad. Assault weapons were kept as spare parts to kit bash some Corsairs from all these extra Guardians bodies I have stored. But this will

Incursor Druht

With this unit, I bought the Phobos Strike Team KT box rather than the Infiltrators/Incursors dual kit. I very much recommend the former. Its bits give the otherwise bland models a proper SM feeling, particularly as seen with the Druht leader. I've never really been a big fan of Phobos since I reached hobby 'maturity'. I don't mind how they executed the tacticool look, but the basic troops are lacking on ornamentation without the upgrade sprue.    With the Haywire Mine guy, I brought out

Shrinking Pile of Shame

Hi Folks,   As some may have read in my previous entries (in this Blog or another) I've moved from my previous location to a new one a couple of months ago. It has been a big opportunity to sort out all bitz, spare parts, unassemnblied, unpainted and unboxed stuff I had in my numerous closets and crates. As my journey to clean my Pile of Shame started during Lock down, I sincerly though I had done most of the job already. Most maybe not in reality but a serious part surely. H

Ornithology

Hi Folks,   I did not plan painting my scourges right now, yet I couldn't help but starting them, mainly for lack of primer rattlecan: I cannot prime anything ang the spures of the scourges were already primed a while ago (Once upon time in a Realm far far away...).    If I set back the true reason of getting these scourge I can list 2 which arrive close at the end of the race: 1. Getting spare parts for kit bashing COrsairs from Guardians body: Special weapons and Carab
