The following thread is for all information and rumours pertaining to the Blood Angels during the Horus Heresy. OP will be updated with each legitimate tidbit. *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** Found in book 4, Conquest. Source. This weapon is one of the Legion specific relics. The link also contains six generic ones which we may have used. Anyone want to guess what the sword is? *** *** *** Unconfirmed rumours state we are in book six, which will be about Signus Prime. We may share the book with the Dark Angels. Update: Book five is Tempest (may), book six is the Shadow Crusade (Tempest part 2 - late 2015), book seven is Prospero (2016). This means we're going to be book eight or nine which is likely to be sometime in or after 2017 :/ *** *** *** HH:Extermination, page 267 BA and IF are testing the field testing the Iliastus pattern Assault Cannon for their legion terminator squads, this is available for BA and IF terminator squads. Costs five points more than a Heavy Flamer, same as 40k rules but with a Malfunction rule (think second edition Assault Cannon rules). *** *** *** Castellax and/or Vorax in BA flavour: Link to source below Basically, a Legion Praevian gives you access to these robots and grants them Legion Astartes Blood Angels (which is currently unknown). *** *** *** Book six is called Retalliation In July, there was speculation it would be at the end of this year, but it October it was said to be delayed until February 2016 It will contain our rules but no special units or Primarchs Book Eight may be Signus Prime. Or Thramas. Or both(!) Seems like our pre-Heresy colours are red, black and gold. Images courtesy of mr_r_parker: *** *** ***

"The Compliance of Hemrien took far longer than Imperial strategists and tacticians had predicted, due in part to the erratic weather of the planet and the appearance of an Orkoid invasion force, codenamed "Waaaagh Gitsnappa" in the system lead to the defenders of Hemrien having ample time to construct numerous defences to confound and stymied Imperial Forces. The 78th Expeditionary Force, consisting of the 1384th Solar Auxilia Cohort and other elements found themselves caught in trench warfare, constantly under battery fire from the heavily fortified cities. Imperial air elements was unable to provide support due to atmospheric conditions and dense anti-air fire. Compliance had been expected to take one month at the most. The defences laid against them slowed them down to six months, with Imperial casualties numbered in 10,000 a day. The Siege of Hemrien was finally broken in the opening days of 003.M31 when elements of the 3rd Grand Company of the Dark Angels Legion arrived. Compliance was achieved in 3 days." - On Angels Wings, A History of the Great Crusade, by Remembrancer Artem Halir. So long, long ago, I used to play Dark Angels and then I got rid of most of my collection to make space for things and because life was getting in the way of me having a hobby. Long story short, life can back off because I need a hobby and around the same time I realised this, Age of Darkness was released. I always wanted to do a Heresy Era Dark Angels army and I had quickly bought some stuff to start working on an army. Then a co-worker quit and I was working half his hours for the better part of 6 months. (Jerk) Anyway, I'm finally in a position where I can work on my Dark Angels. Legion Praetor, just a quick kitbash with the AoD Praetor and bits from the Dark Angels Upgrade kit and some 3d printed shoulderpads. Paladin of the Hekatonystika, using Fafnir Rann as the base, again with some bits from the Dark Angels upgrade kit and the sword coming from the Legion Praetor. (I might have a Watcher in the Dark carry a shield for him) While the characters were first done, I wanted to get the bases done before mounting any minis on them. General idea is that units will have a more basic base, while characters and the like will have trenches. The bases were done using a combination of cork-board height and stability. The planks were coffee stirrers (got a bag of 1000 of them for like €8). Texture paint for, well, texture and some snow paint to make it look like the end of winter and the snow was melting. The large base is for a Contemptor Dreadnought. The Contemptor Dreadnought. Wanted to give the impression that it's just landed or jumped into a trench and it's lifting it's claw hand to blast some poor dumb idiot while swinging its plasma cannon around to clear the rest of the trench. I imagine this dreadnought might have been the previous commander of the force and it wants to charge into the fray once more. Comments and criticisms are always welcome.

I realized that most of stuff on this thread is related to space piracy in some way; 30k Blackshields (focus on piracy), now Red Corsairs (which is where the Malevolent Class Dreadnought belongs) and now a Dark Eldar count as army of bloodthirsty steampunkish pirates. So I'm going to change the title and update the op with link when I get stuff done. Focusing on the DE dudes right now, as is only the "easy" way I can do hobby at the moment. Names and behavior would stem from the "Treasure Island" novel. They will ride Raiders and Ravagers because I airships This also gives me free range for conversions, and I plan to have a Tantalus as a centerpiece of my army, and rules wise, they'll be a piratical wych cult (I need to think a name for it yet). Hello all. I’ve tried a few themed plogs in the past, but they tended to run out of momentum fairly quickly as my attention span and amount of free time invariably plummeted. To that end I’ve decided to have one big modelling and (Emperor forbid) painting log. Expect sporadic updates and long silences. But enough words. You want to see models. I’ve recently invested in a small SA army, which I’m hoping to get painted over the ETL. Unfortunately that means that I have to wait until May until I can get any meaningful painting done on them. However my bitsbox provided a solution. This is my WIP test model for my SA scheme, and the model will potentially be used in a Dark Heresy campaign I’m planning if it ever gets off the ground. Name and background pending. Feel free to make suggestions. For now, she is simply known as Goggles. http://i.imgur.com/WEnINJzl.jpg http://i.imgur.com/ZNXvLsTl.jpg http://i.imgur.com/mYbK3W4l.jpg http://i.imgur.com/CBSSDTIl.jpg For those who are interested, the body is from the valkyrie kit, and the head came from a job-lot of heads I bought from EdT. It had a lot of interesting heads, including a good number of unique female heads, so expect to see a few more cropping up in the coming days and weeks. I'm not sure who makes the heads originally, but they're nice sculpts. As this will be a test model and won’t be part of a larger army, I thought I’d try making a custom base for her. I finally got to use some of the brass etch I’ve had kicking about for years. It’s still WIP, but coming together nicely. http://i.imgur.com/pvf9Cz6l.jpg C&C welcome. Dallo

+ CXXVI Grand Company - IV Legio Astartes + Arahak slammed his pauldron against the rockrete of the bastion wall. Gunfire blazed all around him, tracer fire stitching the skies and shredding the troop lander's as they descended towards the fortress. The thick mud on the approach to the wall erupted as heavy caliber shells detonated among his squad mates, a cracked helmet slammed into the wall beside him, the pulped head rolling free. Arahak swung out and hauled himself up the heavy duty siege ladder; its thick rungs braced to support the weight of so many Astartes warriors. He was ten rungs up when a fellow legionary plummeted to the ground below; the impact crunch curled Arahak's lip inside his battle helm. His legs pushed him upwards, biceps pumping as he hauled himself ever upwards. He fired with his right hand, sending mass reactive bolts screaming up at his assailants while he pulled with his left. The Astartes above him reached the top of the wall and leaped over the battlements into the brawl just out of sight. Arahak growled in his helm as a solid shot pinged off his backpack, a warning sigil flickering into life across his dirty visor. He blinked it out of the way and brought up his gun-camera feed. Then he was over, someone heaving against him from below. He landed hard onto the rockrete battlement and tucked his shoulder underneath him, with a barrel roll he came up firing. Two bolts soared through the air and pitched the enemy off their feet; the once gold armour of his foe, cracked and spurting blood. It took but a second to survey and analyse the battle swarming around him. Arahak surged to his feet, firing from his hip. His camera feed jerked as he blasted golden armoured warriors from their feet. More of his brethren were taking the wall top now, he could hear their grunts of exertion and the heavy stomp of their foot falls. He could hear the flickering of their chain mail banner. The wall top was theirs; Arahak's lips split in a silent snarl as he flicked his bolter to burst fire. Streams of shells sped out and soon enough the number of enemy resisting the push of his allies had whittled to nothing. A golden warrior pushed himself up onto his elbows, blood drooling through the grille of his helmet. Arahak raised his bolter and put a round through the warriors visor. He sniffed and ejected his spent magazine. A single warrior stood facing the tide of gun metal grey Astartes that now dominated the wall top. Missing an arm and his breath coming in haggard rasps, the Imperial Fist opposed the approaching figures with his power sword held by his side. Like starving wolves surrounding a wounded bear in the dead of winter the enemy formed a ring around him. The sounds of battle raged on around them, but it was clear the fortress wall had all but fallen and the resistance was confined to the keep. Striding from the breach at the wall top came a tall warrior clad in blood splattered battle plate, the red crest splayed across his helm misted dust and soot around his broad shoulders. The rustle of his pteruges across his iron clad thighs signaled the warriors crowding the Imperial Fist to part. Sergeant Khanat of the 126th Grand Company strode into the circle to face the survivor. "I am Captain Veru-" The Imperial Fists skull exploded in a shower of gore, splattering the face plates of the Iron Warriors behind him. Khanat turned to the nearest warrior and his voice hissed over the unit-vox. "Legionary Arahak, inform the warsmith we have taken the wall. We are proceeding below. Meet Kharnasus as he comes up with the support weapons and help him secure the wall top for the arrival of command." Khanat didn't even wait for an acknowledgement. He prowled his way down the inner stair case of the bastion wall, heading for the keep. Barban Falk would have his victory. After a long reflection process I have thrown off my shackles and embraced the traitorous side of the Heresy. I present the start of my IVth Legion Blog. This army is in its infancy and located in both California and England. I'm hoping by the end of this year I have it fully formed and ready to attend some meet ups and regular gaming as I'll be moving to California in the near future. Thank you for reading and seeing where I've decided to lay my loyalty. Iron Within.

At last an Update! Amongst my many projects lately, has been a big push to get a proper army battle ready for games with the local HH:AOD:30K group. My Land Raider Achilles! I look forward to how Aggravating this tank may very well prove to be for the enemy! Also, I obviously had some camera focus issues. my Cellphone no longer recognizes that it has a camera... so I had to use my son's Amazon Fire tablet. It is a handy device, but it's camera is far from ideal-

TALES OF THE UNMARKED THE SHADOW CRUSADE, IMPERIUM SECUNDUS, AND THE LONG MARCH TO TERRA "The death of hope itself is perhaps the greatest tragedy in the wake of Horus' ambition. For the briefest of moments, humanity grasped its true destiny. The blood we had spilled, the worlds we had burned, the brothers we had lost - all of it and more - vindicated. We could have elevated the species above ignorance, superstition, and the day-to-day drudgery of mere survival. Scholars may point to Isstvan, Calth, or Terra herself as where Mankind's hopes died. Those of us who had fought through those blood-soaked days know better. Mankind's hopes died, one by one, with each shell fired at an erstwhile brother and with each Legion blade shattered upon Legion ceramite. Every life trampled beneath the thunderous footfall of the Legiones Astartes was a life wasted, never to see its full potential realized." - From the memoirs of Publius Strabo, Centurion, XIII Legion "Let us make war, for evidently, you have found peace intolerable." - Scipio, Ancient Romanii War-Sage "Man proposes, God disposes." - Tomas a Kempis, Jermanic Ecclesiastic, M2 Publius Strabo, Centurion, 114th Company, XIII Legion Ultramarines Arrayed in his heavily modified panoply (retroactively designated Mark V "Heresy") as seen in this pict-capture, then-Lieutenant Strabo had been a talented junior officer whose potential might have one day seen him rise to company command. However, this future was not to pass - Strabo was wounded almost unto death in a furious but ultimately futile boarding action against Eldar raiders some three decades prior to the outbreak of the Horus Heresy. Narrowly avoiding internment in a Dreadnought shell, Strabo returned to the ranks after undergoing extensive augmetic rebuild. Quietly sidelined, a bitter Strabo shunned the company of most of his Legion brothers and bent his mind towards technological mastery instead. By 007.M31, Strabo had attained the rank of Centurion (centurio immunes*) within the 114th Company, contenting himself with commanding Legion-bonded war-automata instead of Legionaries. Strabo would survive the fires of the Horus Heresy. His memoirs, penned after the Scouring, would form the basis of this record. Panoply of War: Centurion Strabo's armor was constructed from elements of the "Iron", "Maximus", and "Corvus" patterns of Legiones Astartes armor. At the time of this pict-capture, such a hybridized suit was a rarity in the XIII Legion. Therefore, Strabo most likely performed extensive modifications upon his own armor. Beyond standard Legion-issue battlefield command and control equipment such as the cognis-signum and the nuncio-vox, Strabo's armor was also equipped with an advanced vox disruptor array for engaging the enemy in electronic warfare. The reinforced "Mantilla" pattern helm incorporated an artificer-wrought augury scanner. Such a suite of sophisticated equipment allowed Strabo to function as Praevian and Master of Signal both. *XIII Legion title referring to specialist officers whose normal duties did not involve line command.

Hello one and all!I've been in the hobby on and off for 16 something years and thought I'd make a thread for my endeavours in the ol' B&C. The Horus Heresy bandwagon hit me like a brick when it started and I've always had a soft spot for chemical warfare so picking a favourite legion was easy. I've been working on this true scale (Shoutout to Doghouse!) Death Guard army for about a year but never really bothered posting much about it. I'm aiming for about 2500 points and will see how far this leads me after that. There's lots of stuff in the works (tacticals, terminators, heavy support...) but this is all I've bothered taking pictures of at the moment. Less talk and more pics, right. First squad. http://i.imgur.com/rr9160U.jpg?1 http://i.imgur.com/gK1KOeJ.jpg http://i.imgur.com/XxssMSh.jpg Pimped out ride and some sense of scale. The Rhino is based on a 1/35 M113 APC if someone is wondering. http://i.imgur.com/1q8rzZ7.jpg Praetor http://i.imgur.com/IWd88zX.jpg Consul http://i.imgur.com/CHQhxUo.jpg Imperial Space Marine http://i.imgur.com/8SKNLYS.jpg That's about it for now, will post more stuff soon as things progress. I hope you enjoy them and am happy to answer any questions, C&C is always appreciated. Cheers!

Hello there, I am new to Age of Darkness, but I've been collecting Wh40k Dark Angels for a while, now expanding into Horus Heresy. I started with the plastic Mark III tactical marines from GW. I also have Forge World Mark III Shoulder Pads (dedicated to DA) to upgrade them. Could you please let me know if I can also use FW DA heads with Mark III armor? They were designed for Mark II and some of the upcoming art from Crusade Book is showing Mark III marines with default, crusader-type helmets. I like FW heads but I'm also a little bit confused! How do you model your Mark III marines? Thank you!
