  1. Howdy one and all and welcome to my WIP thread for my Luna Wolves. Since I read Galaxy in Flames many moons ago (well over 100 moons now), the Luna Wolves have been my favourite legion. One thing that was never mentioned was any detachments of the 16th but as with the rest of the legions there must have been detachments dotted around the galaxy. My 14th Company are one of these detachments. In the early stages of the Great Crusade they were responsible for one of the few operational mistakes of the legion and are essentially exiled from the main body with the remit to rebuild the company. The goal is to build a fully mechanised army. I'd love to be able to make a full Regiment, but I think that the stretch goal will be a mechanised company with an Armoured and Support Company to back them up. For now I’ll be focussing on a platoon at a time to keep the same integrated feel but on a more macro scale. 14th Mechanised Battalion, Luna Wolves 14th Chapter (Orbat) Links: First Platoon, Alpha Company HQ Squad [Unowned] Tactical Squad 1 [Built] Tactical Squad 2 [Purchased] Tactical Squad 3 [Unowned] Fire Support Squad 1 [Unowned] Heavy Support Squad 1 [Unowned] 6 x Razorback [Unowned] Zulu Company elements: Terminator Squad 1 [Purchased, Spartan Complete] Sky Hunter Squad 1 [Unowned] Land Speeder Squad 1 [Unowned] Troop 1, Delta Company: Sicaran Troop 1 [Unowned] Troop 1, Golf Squadron elements: 1 x Kratos [Unowned] Detachments: Contemptor Dreadnought Talon [Purchased] Warhound Titan [Purchased] Cerastus Knight Titan [Built] Most recent Army shot 16/03/2025:
  2. With the planetary defence forces neutralised at the landing zone, the betrayal was complete. Jackal Company did not waste a second in turning the crisis to its advantage. Ignoring the scattered pockets of the starved populace still clinging to the exterior habitats, Warsmith Kord ordered the captured Guardsmen to the firing lines, forcing them to turn their guns on their former comrades who didn't know surrender, while the Iron Warriors consolidated the most vital fuel depots. Kord did not fight to exterminate; he fought to possess. Over the next thirty hours, his Astartes executed a flawless, brutal campaign of structural seizures, using Vindicators and Siege Breaker squads to methodically punch through fortifications and secure infrastructure intact. The rebellion, already exhausted by starvation and a lack of leadership, crumbled into disorganised pockets of angry, hungry defiance. Once the logistical grid was secure, Kord focused his cold attention on the Governor’s Citadel, a spire of black ceramite towering above the main hive, officially named Apex-Gantry but colloquially known as The Grind. He took it not by siege, but by infiltration. Using captured schematics from the executed Commissar, Kord led a small, specialised unit through the maintenance levels and into the Command Tower. The final moments were short and inevitable. The Planetary Governor, trembling and clad in expensive, pointless finery, offered terms, pleas, and titles. Kord silenced it all with a burst from his Volkite Pistol, staining the gilded floor with the blood of the Governor and his handful of corrupt aides. The Warsmith then activated the command protocols, officially taking control of the entire planetary administration in the name of the Warmaster, and thus completing the Vosa V Betrayal. With the Citadel secured and his rule established, Kord began the methodical sweep of the sprawling complex, personally overseeing the capture of sensitive data-vaults and cypher protocols. It was then, deep within the private residential wing, that he heard it. It was music. Not the harsh, rhythmic chants of industry he was accustomed to, nor the mournful clang of a thousand defeated sieges, but a complex, ordered melody that was structured, yet alive with emotion. The sound was so jarringly wrong in the blood-soaked and smoke-filled tower that Kord halted his Astartes retinue with a gesture. He traced the music to a small, ornate chamber, its door hanging half-open, having been torn from its hinges in the hasty, final evacuation. Kord stepped through the ruined threshold, his heavy armour quieted by the thick, dust-covered rug. There, seated beside a metallic, gothic lyre, was Lady Lyra. Clad in a simple, soiled gown, she was utterly oblivious to the bloodbath outside her door, her head bowed as her fingers danced across the strings. The music, intricate, perfect, and utterly without peer in the grim utility of the Imperium, hit Kord with the force of an undeflected artillery round. He saw not a civilian, but a form of creation he had never been able to achieve. He saw a talent that perfectly rendered order and beauty from chaos, the ultimate expression of the artistry his Primarch, Perturabo, had yearned for but never received. This was not a resource to be managed; it was a god-like gift of pure, unblemished Art. Kord stood, transfixed, until the melody concluded. The silence that followed was broken only by the rasp of his own power harness. Lyra finally looked up, her gaze meeting the cold, silver optics of the towering Warsmith. Fear should have been paramount in her eyes, but Kord saw only a deep, weary focus. He strode forward, dismissing the dead Governor and his useless life from his thoughts. He towered over the girl, the grim bulk of his IV Legion armour filling the room. For the first time in days, he removed his helm and let her look upon his face. 'You,' he commanded, his voice a low rumble that brooked no argument. 'You will accompany me. You will be safe, you will be guarded, and you will play that music only for me.' He paused, a flicker of something close to obsession crossing his hard features. 'You are no longer a mere Governor's daughter. You are now mine. You are the Muse of Olympia.'
  3. The toxic haze clinging to the landing zone of Vosa V began to fracture, yielding to the roar of a descending void craft. It was the Frigate Pillar of Olympia, a hulking mass of grey ceramite scored with the unmistakable yellow and black chevrons of the IV Legion. The vessel settled with an almost seismic impact. Its exhausted plasma conduits vented violently into the polluted air. For a silent, strained moment, the ship loomed, its bulk an oppressive presence, pressing the small assembly of Planetary Defence Force Guardsmen and their jittery Commissar into nervous stillness. A discordant klaxon blared, and blinding amber strobes flared as the main siege ramp ground open. Out strode the Astartes of Jackal Company, clad in the dull, unadorned silver-grey of the Iron Warriors Legion. Their Mark III 'Iron' armour, with its plates reinforced with makeshift hazard-stripes, gave them the appearance of living, walking siege weaponry. They moved with the cold, mechanical precision of automata, forming four compact blocks of eight Marines, their bolters held at a parade rest. Finally, the shadow of Warsmith Barrak Kord fell over the scene. He emerged, a mountain of iron clad in veteran markings and a custom-wrought power harness, his shoulders draped with a heavy mantle of black and gold synth-silk. Two veteran Astartes Lieutenants, equally grim in tactical plate, took positions at his flanks. Kord strode forward, his pace unwavering and powerful, until he towered over the waiting Commissar. “My Lord Warsmith,” the Commissar stammered, offering a stunted bow that bordered on an apology. “By the grace of the Master of Mankind, you are here. The situation is dire, gravely dire.” He gestured wildly towards the smog-choked horizon. “The populace is in full revolt; they have seized control of almost every key Manufactorum and Promethium depot. We dare not engage with heavy weapons, lest we incur damage that compromises the Imperial Tithe.” Kord remained motionless, though his face was concealed by his helm, the Commissar could feel his eyes fixed upon him from beneath it. His silence hung heavy in the air. “My Lord, Diplomacy has failed,” the Commissar finished, the confidence draining from his voice like air from a punctured lung. The silence returned, absolute and terrifying. Then, with a sudden, economic movement, Kord drew the heavy Volkite Pistol holstered at his hip and fired a silent, focused beam of energy that punched through the Commissar’s forehead. “Diplomacy has failed,” Kord growled. Before the body could crumple, the assembled Marines of Jackal Company raised their bolters with a single, synchronised clack and unleashed a storm of high-explosive rounds that pulverised the stunned Guardsmen. Within seconds, the landing pad was silent, the air thick with the smell of ozone and spilt Imperial blood. The conquest of Vosa V had begun.
  4. Welcome to the start of a project I’ve been brewing for the past 3 years in the back of my mind. This project is an attempt to bring the Visage of the Visions of Heresy 1st Legion to the tabletop. Above is my first proof of concept images, a decade ago when I first joined the Bolter and Chainsword I was an avid Horus Heresy Fan and was always rushing any ideas I had without taking time to really indulge my creativity, this time after a massive Hiatus I decided to look back on my fondest memories of the hobby and bring something from my childhood into the community, my beloved First Legion and Sons of the Lion. I welcome you to join me on this adventure of recreating a beloved army and concept of the angels of Death and the emperors first. We will be diving into Abrahamic lore and naming conventions and going to be setting many rules for the project in order to expand my potential and force me to learn new skills. Till the next update…
  5. Good evening I've been working on a mission pack for a little while now that can be used for standalone play. It has a few quirks and is a set of quite simple but thematic missions for casual play. This is just the first of many packs I'll be making. The bones are 3ed missions with some tweaking to take advantage of 2,0 special rules Direct Link https://archive.org/details/standard-missions-v-1_202409 Embed in the post ( Hopefully!) Please let me know what you think! Standard missions v1.pdf
  6. Due to being off work a week for surgery I've caught up on some modeling Somewhat depressingly the infantry here are less than a third of the total in my 3000pt list aha. I'm now off to lazily build 7 whole stormcast models over a weekend
  7. Allo Continuing on with the theme of my fiscal irresponsibility behold the siege breaker I have built. I don't run siege breakers and decided to build this on a whim. Unfortunately for me the parts needed included one arm from the Sons of horus weapon set. I don't play Sons of horus ended up buying the pack for one bit. He do be handsome tho I also received all the bases I need for my solar aux infantry
  8. Allo It is well known and spoken of amongst the clouds above that I am not a smart man Many have described me as "upright" and "lacking in brain wrinkles" Perhaps as of a result of this I decided to buy into the solar aux and also buy fancy bases Luckily I am too empty thought to have worked out how much this will cost in the long wrong but considering there's 100 infantry I expect its going to be a bad time
  9. Morning, I have recently been having a big push to add to my on going Sons of Horus collection. Mostly posting on IG/Twitter/FB etc and realised I missed the reading through and creating threads on forums. hence me signing up and starting one here! Anyway on to the good stuff! Ive always felt super drawn to the Sons of Horus, not only for the sea green scheme but also the fall to chaos in the background. Since the release of the age of darkness box I’ve jumped in to heresy as a whole, painting and gaming. (Fingers crossed this works and aren’t too big) I’ve attached some pictures of the stuff I’ve already painted in my collection over the last couple of years. Going forward I’ll hopefully add more wip and finished things as I do them. I’ll add some more of the stuff I’ve done as I go, rather than spam this thread with images. any questions at all fire away and I’ll get back. Onto my kitbashed master of signals now which is the last picture uploaded! cheers
  10. While work on painting continues a pace I've cast my mind to write some fluff for my grand battalion *Ahem* The 369th Grand Battalion is an amalgamation of the 36th Infantry battalion and the 9th Armoured following the heavy losses they sustained following Istvaan. The 36th operated under the command of Warsmith Justinian a terran veteran who upon the fields of Istvaan hesitated to give the command to fire on the loyalists. The Warsmith Justinian would be cut down for his hesitation by the junior captain Nachtfel. This slaying would spark an immediate conflict within the battalion as warriors turned on each other even as the battle around them raged. For Nachtfels brutal suppression of those whose loyalty within the battalion was in question he would be raised to the rank of warsmith and granted its command. During the battle of Phall the battalion would launch boarding attacks against several imperial fist ships. These assaults would see the back of the battalion broken with massive losses of material and men. The 9th was a freshly raised armoured battalion comprised solely of Olympian recruits. They're first combat deployment was the fields of Istvaan where they were used as an expendable Hammer. An early counter attack upon the force would lead to the death of its commanding officer and a rout within the force. During their panicked attempt to break through a rapidly encircling loyalist force they would lose the majority of their vehicles. For their complete failure upon the battlefield fresh equipment would be withheld from them and they would find their force continually being whittled down over time. Upon the eve of Tallarns invasion the two broken forces would be merged into one and re designated as a mechanised shock force. Legion inductiis would replenish its ranks and new vehicles assigned to it. Warmsith Nachtfel a now rising star within the Legion would use this influx of new material to further arm his veteran core.
  11. There are varying degrees of experience in the Horus Heresy community but most of all we want to recruit others, so I'm going to start a series of discussions and encourage others to do so that focus on the more mundane questions to the veterans amongst you. The intent behind this is to build a foundation of knowledge for people to draw from and attract others to a friendly and informative guide from fellows from within the community. Starting with the pride of a non-Primarch Legion force and the character and beatstick, let's talk about the Praetor. Questions we can answer - what weapons to give a Praetor, what armour (i.e. what type) and who to run him with? How does this differ from Legion to Legion, or army build to army build, Rites of War included? Please share your thoughts, including your experiences or just your themed preferences if you like. There's room for all sorts here!
  12. Hi there! Over the past year Ive been trying to build a casual and thematic IF list with the templar assault ROW. Unfortunately, it doesnt seem like many people use this one or build a list around it, so Ive been kind of piecing it together without much advise. Id Like to hear your thoughts on the current list, and the more ideal competitive version of it. Ive only every played other peoples tryhard lists before, so Im not really sure how this fairs against an average army. Any advice would be appreciated, and if I have some rules wrong please let me know. Here are my personal restrictions: -no recon marines/scouts -no phalanx warders - set late siege of Terra around warhawk. This is the current list, and comprises of the models I have so far: The Idea for this list is to have dorn and huscarls in spartan, Sigi and some templar in proteus, and the other templar with the preator in deepstrike. Tacs grab objectives while dreads cover supporting fire for dorn and sigi to move up the board and take on elite units, once positioning is ok the other deepstrike squad will come in and flank some power armour like a heavy support squad or something. Templars also have line for objectives. Dorn and his pals take on the biggest threat, while sigi challenges the second highest threat. Tanks do damage to other vehicles/dreads or teminators. They ride in proteus tanks to get them from a to b safely, and cap objectives/kill infantry. preator and regular terminators deepstrike wherever is needed to cause pressure and do big damage, while contemptor helps where it can. Deredo adds long range support and anti air. Sigi and his huscarls move up slowly in cover to challenge the hq. Is this list a better idea?

  14. Hey all - Starting a new thread (my first time doing so!) for a community project that launched over on the HH: Age of Darkness Discord Partner Server whilst B&C was down... Liber Panoptica was born of a desire by a team from the HH: Age of Darkness Discord Partner Server to ensure that nothing and nobody was left behind with the release of Warhammer: The Horus Heresy (also known as HH2.0). Whilst in development, we referred to it as Operation: Retrograde - and this name stuck even on release. Within this document you will find the rules and lore to add all units to HH2.0 that were omitted from the official publications, as well as a full community FAQ and more, including a few new things you won't have seen before... The first version of this is just the beginning of our plans, though - so check back regularly as we'll update it in response to feedback, as well as adding new units and more as we go. The Liber Panoptica can be obtained here: https://codewalrus.gumroad.com/l/LiberPanoptica Any feedback you do have can be provided to us directly via the HH: Age of Darkness Discord: https://discord.gg/HH-Age-of-Darkness I hope you all enjoy this work! Please feel free to provide any thoughts you have to me directly :)
  15. Since we seems to lake a thread about discussing how to make our traitor members of Loyalist Legions or loyalists members of Traitor Legions. There are lots of other threads where the discussion have appeared but more as a derailing or side discussions. So here we have a thread for explicit talking about how to make you Traitor Ultramarines stand out from their Loyalist brothers, or your Loyalist Night Lords form their traitors and cowards kin on the other side. And how to explain their existance. With that said, here are links to some of the threads where this discussion have happened before: Will poste some of the thoughts and suggestions from those threads here later.
  16. Hello fellow Frater, I've been away from these hallowed halls for a while but following the Horus Heresy 2.0 release, I'm now more firmly in love with our hobby than I think I ever have been. I've been building a Blood Angels force for years but have decided to dabble with some more heretical marines for my latest project. LUPERCAL! For the Warmaster. I've always liked the 40k Abaddon model but never had a reason to get it until now. I'm in the process of trying to make my version of a 30k Abaddon.
  17. "For six days we saw the signs: lights in the skies, forms of winged beings, fire burning. Then the seventh day they came down as angels. All those who opposed them were silent or death. We did not simply surrender, we started worshipping them. Then they lifted the veil from our eyes and patiently thought us the difference between faith, that requires no god and makes you stronger, and superstition, that makes you weak: all so that no one could do us the same thing they have done. Such sweet paradox" Constantia Meville, Philosopher an Iterator of the Imperial Truth This post will be edited as I add some more details and decide more stuff/number/names etc. This is, after all, a Work in Progress. The Origin I have wanted to do a Legion since long ago. I have both Calth and Prospero boxes, plus some Ryza Lascannon I brought in my last visit to Warhammer World in...2017...(writing about this makes me think I had the idea of doing some 30k for more time that I thought!). Then 3 years ago I brought Sanguinius, finally deciding to go for the IX. I started 40k as a Tyranid and even when I started chaos I choose Slaanesh and noise weapons, more than Fulgrim and Emperor's Children, so I had no favorite Legion/Primarch, liking all as an "external" viewer. Finally I chose Love, and went for my wife's favorite. The more I dig in the background of the IX, the more I realize that, once again, Love was the right choice. The Postulates I usually go full GW in my projects, avoiding even 3rd party bits. This time it is not the case. 3D printed parts were a necessity this time, for economic reason and also creative freedom issues. Simply put I finally started this project for real because of that and the fact that I suddenly found a local community, even if a bit dysfunctional. And I ended up using 3d printed stuff a lot more that expected for the great number of Assault Marines I decided to use. I expected to use Calth marines in mk4+Jump Packs and assault hands, but boys, those legs are static. I briefly considered Truescale, but it would have been a lot of hassle and I wanted to use parts of some old marines kits and fully enjoy their compatibility. But I also decided for the characters to be sometimes bigger. That is accurate to the lore, that describes marines with quite variated heights, sometimes even "Primarch-like", cool to see and convenient in game! As every Blood Angels player knows, there are no rules for Sanguinary Guard in 30k. I actually liked this fact as for my force I assumed the all the QG Charachters with Jump Packs to be Sanguinary Guards. I converted 5 of them to double as a command unit, if needed (Then I noticed I only needed 3, but that's fine. That's all for now, I will create some placeholders and put some WIP photos out
